Default Wasting $700 ?????

O.K. guy's, I've been on this fourm for two months, and owned my 2008 for one.I have wanted an STI for four years, and finally got to a point in my financial life to afford one.

I have saved enough cash to buy my AP ( which I WAS excited about) but 95% of all threads on this fourm are people with negative experiences...Oh my god I got a code lastnight!!! My god I loaded the perrin stage 1 93 octane map,and my car cuts out in 4th gear at 5500rpm...Help me I just loaded the Cobb stage 2 map,and the car seems slower....Hey guy's I connected the 2 green wires, loaded my map now my car wont start-Help!!!!

Hey,I'm eating Top Ramon, and turned my thermostate down to 58 degrees in my house to own this car...and like you guy's I want to make it QUICKER & FASTER With out F#%*n it up!

Should I wait a little longer till everyone gets these maps cleaned up??

Does anyone have good stuff to say about the AP? Or do most of these people need to watch the CD that comes with it,and maybe read the directions????? I don't Know...Help!!!

Thanks

No problems on my 05 with the Cobb APv2. I would never go back to stock now that I'm stage 2... Yeah, it's that big of a difference.

I haven't really been looking for it, but I've not heard any negative reviews about the APv2 for the 08 STIs. I got mine from Perrin and flashed S1 and absolutely love it.

And for those who don't know, I called Cobb and asked because I'm a newb, but with the 08 STIs you don't need to connect the green plugs to flash. No "Test Mode" needed!

Dude honestly if you do everything right, read the directions etc. it will be fine. -the people who have problems are the ones who post and the bajillion others who are happy are either in the AP stage 2 club thread or just enjoying it silently.

I actually felt the biggest difference going stage 1. rather then stage 2. It was so much smoother and faster.

minor problem for me on my 03 wrx when uninstalling it from the car.... Cobb was very helpful and fixed it up. Had the car traded in a few days later.

Planning on buying again for the 07

Bishop, wasnt yours a cobb ap v1 though?? COMPLETELY different

Cobb AP v2 is a product that i will stand by for anyone... read the directions, and if you have additional questions, call cobb (GREAT customer service) or just search/post online. These are really simple to use and you will only head a few bad instances. The v2 has updated the speed times, error handling, and many other things.

Actually it was V2, i waited to order it for a couple months when i heard it was getting released.... so i had the v2 for my 03 WRX....
I however, still stand by Cobb's tech support and customer service, and am looking forward to getting my accessport for the STi soon hopefully... pending a shop (mentioned in my journal applz)

People always post when they have a ***** of a time, they almost never post when things work smoothly. So don't be fooled by the amount of people posting up on the forums about having problems...there are many many many times this amount of people enjoying their products with no problems what so ever.

Giant - I just installed COBB AP on my 08 STi on Saturday. It was the first time I ever used the product. I had all the same concerns as you.
The instructions are pretty clear and I didn't end up watching the video on the CD. I did download the latest maps from the website, but it turns out that the latest ones were already on the unit. I also checked, and the firmware on the unit was NEWER than that listed on the website.
So I went ahead and installed the unit to the car and flashed to Stage 1, 93 Octane. The reflash took a little longer than I thought it would (about 10 minutes) but it was trouble free. Interestingly, the car didn't start up at the first turn of the key after the reflash. It cranked for about 5 seconds, and I released the key, tried again and it started right up.
Driving the car, it is so obviously pulling harder and accelerating smoother under full throttle. Before the flash it was kind of rough with the pedal all the way on the floor, kinda bouncing. That's gone now. There seems to be a little less torque when taking off from low RPM's, but if you want to take off aggressively, hang on! The difference in power is tremendous around 2500 RPM and up. It makes this already fun car a toal riot! I'm going to burn through alot more gas now, i think.
Overall, I've always said this car is a smile factory, but now the grin is ear-to-ear! Best $700 I ever spent.

Oh ya! I'm well informed on what I need to do for a stage 2 upgrade...and this is where I read about people getting the code and fuel shut off...maybe these people are not reading the Cobb directions??

Thanks for your feedback

No problems here so far with the AP stage 1 93 octane map. I'm running Sunoco Ultra 94.
