I had a V1 Cobb AP on my 02 WRX and had no problems with it at all.
Edvig,Thanks for your reply.I don't even have my AP yet.I'm saying I'm very hesitant about the $700 purchase because of all the negitive threads I read on this site.

But after my thread I've posted...I'm hearing alot of good stuff!

Thanks again

I can tell you that I have not had any issue with my AP at stages 1 or 2. In fact, the stage 2 map provided by Cobb is so spot on that a Pro-Tune is not going to give you any significant power or safety. I went with the Cobb downpipe since I figure the map will work best with the same brand components and I have no issues whatsoever.
GilMiKalian,Thanks for your input, this is the stuff I've been looking for.My ultimate goal is to do the very same stage 2 you have done (cobb down pipe& cobb stage 2 map) Again,I have not purchased my AP yet because of all the posts I read about flashed cars not starting..overboost codes.

I've always read directions, and planned thing out completely before I dive in.
I'm just beginning to understand most of the negitive threads are people that are just so excited to make their car faster, they are just loading maps, and not really thinking about working combos.

Thanks again

1) What was the code? Did you use the AccessPort to read the CEL?
-If you use the Access Port gauge functions, are you seeing overboost at 5500rpm?

2) Why did you start with the Stage 1 map (Perrin), then go to Stage 2 (Cobb)?
Are you running a down-pipe (Stg 2), or stock - access port ONLY (Stg 1)?
-If so, is it catted or catelss?

I see you're in California... do you have access to 92/93 octane, or California 91 only??
-If so, you may try the California 91 map??

3) Did you flash both the BASE and REALTIME maps?
In my haste, I made this mistake, and this isn't my first AP. : P

4) Ultimately, I'd suggest flashing back to stock and see if the problems go away?

Hope this helps! Love my Stage 1 flash!! Haven't even tried the Perrin map yet... need to do that today. : )
Bluef,I was just quoting all the threads I've read on this forum of people having prob's with their cars after flashing.I really appreciate your help and concern.I'm just looking for people like you that say-I love my stage 1 flash!!

Thank you

I would say its the best 700$ you could spend on a subaru and best engine mod. The next best money spent is on the PSRS.

Giant: If you want your STI to go faster, then the Cobb AP is the best way to go. If you follow the directions, then the installation should go smoothly. That said...there is always the sh!t happens rule, but Cobb is pretty good with their tech support if anything bad comes up.

Go Open Source. Just fire up ROMRaider on and go to town. Datalog to see what is going on. Best way to learn.

The Cobb base maps are usually very conservative. If you are worried. Take your car to a Cobb Protuner and have them dial your STi out. Or if you get some guys together TopSpeed can tune your car.

I'm reading all of this discussion about 93 octane stage 1 maps, cobb and perrin. But what is anybody's good experience with a 91 octane map? I am limited to 91 or 92 octane, so a stage 1 93 octane map is not something i can get use out of right now...

man my english skills need work, it must be all of the smog in the california air.

I live in Los Angeles and was flashed to a 91 octane map and I loved it. I really noticed a very big difference going stage 1. It actually took a couple of days however, so give it some time.

Excellent. Looking forward to your report. And thanks for the other reports as well guys. I'm coming from a Legacy GT, and you pretty much needed to go Stage II to get big gains with them. Stage 1 was nice...but with 3 cats on that thing, it needed help.

Glad to hear Stg 1 has a significant increase in power for the '08s. Any 1/4 mile times or 0-60 tests done between stock, Stg 1 and 2? I know...I coulda searched that one.
