I have nothing but good things to say about cobb products. The one issue I had with them they took care of with no hesitation. Going stage 1 on the 08 is about the same feeling as going with a custom tune on older models from what I have heard. You will be happy if you do it right and flash the right map for your mods.

I'm not aware of any issues with the Cali. maps...which is what you will be using. What issues were you able to find re these particular maps?

I can tell you that I have not had any issue with my AP at stages 1 or 2. In fact, the stage 2 map provided by Cobb is so spot on that a Pro-Tune is not going to give you any significant power or safety. I went with the Cobb downpipe since I figure the map will work best with the same brand components and I have no issues whatsoever.

Sorry to hear about the problems with the car!

1) What was the code? Did you use the AccessPort to read the CEL?
-If you use the Access Port gauge functions, are you seeing overboost at 5500rpm?

2) Why did you start with the Stage 1 map (Perrin), then go to Stage 2 (Cobb)?

Are you running a down-pipe (Stg 2), or stock - access port ONLY (Stg 1)?
-If so, is it catted or catelss?

I see you're in California... do you have access to 92/93 octane, or California 91 only??
-If so, you may try the California 91 map??

3) Did you flash both the BASE and REALTIME maps?
In my haste, I made this mistake, and this isn't my first AP. : P

4) Ultimately, I'd suggest flashing back to stock and see if the problems go away?

Hope this helps! Love my Stage 1 flash!! Haven't even tried the Perrin map yet... need to do that today. : )

Should I wait a little longer till everyone gets these maps cleaned up??

Does anyone have good stuff to say about the AP? Or do most of these people need to watch the CD that comes with it,and maybe read the directions????? I don't Know...Help!!!

Thanks
^^^^

I got the Accessport on my 08 STI @ 1900 miles, I also had the catted Cobb Downpipe installed & set it @ stage 2 /93 octane.

I had it dyno tuned professionaly and my Graph shows 288.1 all wheel HP but, amazingly , a huge 355 FT LB's all wheel Torque~ yes the 08 motor is strong and tunes really well. my car is amazing to drive now.

When it was new it was way slower than my 06 STI-now it would blow the doors off my last 06 ~

It runs much better than stock, it's smoother, better on gas & goes like a raped ape when you hit around 3,700 rpm & up.
It will pull all the way to my 6,700 Rpm buzzer limit ( and higher - the tuner tells me my limiter is actually now around 7,100rpm) in a hearbeat ,whereas, before it did'nt hardly pull higher than 5,500 rpm without kind of holding back..like hicupping almost ?

I can't vouch for stage 1 ( as I went right to Downpipe & 2 ) But it has to better than factory ECU tune on the US STI.

Cheers.

Giant...you lost me somewhere. First you load the stage 1 map, then you load the Stage 2 map. You either have a turbo back exhaust or you don't. It doesn't make sense that you tried both maps.

I would suggest that you call Cobb for some tech support, if you haven't already.

I had a V1 Cobb AP on my 02 WRX and had no problems with it at all.

Cobb ap is absolutely a good product if you read and follow all the directions. I would say that 90% of the people that I have read about having problems were doing something wrong. Either running a catless downpipe, intake, blowoff valve, boost controller, etc. All of which are not recomended by cobb with their OTS maps. Or just plain not following the procedure correctly for flashing a map, or running the wrong map, All of these things have caused most of the problems people then blame on the accessport. Don't let them ruin it for you. Get the AP it is money well spent.

Totally Satisfied. COBB AP bought at Perrin. Best Bang per $ upgrade ever.
Flashed COBB Stock STG1 93 on 94 octane gas. Runs great. Not one problem.

Now if only get my hands on a Catback E from COBB or Perrin then I'll be done.

Total n00b question, and partially OT - does the AP have to remain attached to the OBD port, or can you simply flash the ECU, then disconnect?

Once the reflash is complete, you can remove it and enjoy the car.
