A recall really isn't a big deal. They'll recall for all kinds of little things. Stopping sale of all 2.5 turbo cars built after Jan 1, 2008 is a pretty big deal.

I'm 99% sure I'm taking delivery of a DGM '08 next week. I just found out mine isn't affected. I should get a call shortly to confirm delivery.

Picked my WRB '08 up on Apr 5. I heard about this recall last week, called my dealer and they said I wasn't affected. Until today, I've been too busy to read this entire thread. I checked my VIN & mfd date, and seem to be before the affected cars. Phew! Just got back from my little road test at 3,000 rpm plus some pedal, in 2nd and 3rd gear. No odd noises. Just the whirr of the turbo and the subie growl. Loving it.

Then, as I got out of the car I checked for paint chips and sure enough there was one. Now I have to read another thread and figure out what is going on with the paint.

However, lovin' my new car!

My dealer let me sell my WRX ahead of time (got more money than the trade was worth) and gave me a free loaner (they obviously didn't expect to get held up as long as it has)... I've been driving a 2008 Legacy sedan on their dime for nearly 1 month now

it's nice, but it's no STI though

There is a lot of slack in the STI drivetrain not to mention that the tranny is somewhat noisy to begin with. It's perfectly normal. You'll hear most of the sounds when you let off the throttle.

my WRX makes that whirring noise on 1st and 2nd off throttle too. Gotten used to it, and guess I can expect the same from the STi too.

Despite the fact that some folks here seem to have gotten some info about their cars, my dealer still doesn't know anything and says they haven't heard anything (and this is supposedly after checking with regional sales and service managers yesterday), and SOA called me back yesterday and said they don't have any new info either. Can anyone confirm whether Subaru has sent out the list of affected VINs? The news that the number of affected cars is "very small" is good...unless, of course, mine is one of those.

Talk about a lesson in patience...mine's getting worn pretty thin.

It's been like 2 weeks and the only figure of affected cars is <10....
No one here had a problem.

I hope they narrow down the vins soon cuz obviously not all the cars that fall within that range had a problem.

You are confusing two facts. Fewer than 10 cars have exhibited the problem..... but no one knows how many cars might potentially be effected... where the problem potential is present but hasn't yet exhibited itself.

They may have only found 10 cars but prodution is still stopped. I called Subaru of Canada today and that's what they told me.
