I understand that but the issue is not the dealer but with Subaru for not telling the dealers what is going on and what they are doing about the issue. If they have not solution so far then tell them so that they can pass it on to the customer. Most people will tell you that you should keep your customer informed of issues so that it does not come from a second source.

At least I want to know what is going on and I can handle what ever they say to me but this not knowning is killing me.

You're misdirecting the blame. If SOA calls all the dealerships and leaves a voicemail about the problem, but the dealership never checks their voicemail, you have a problem with the dealer - not SOA. I have confirmation that these notices are available on subarunet. If your dealer isn't staying up to date... well, go to a different dealer.

The other flaw with your logic is that you are assuming SOA knows the specifics of the issue and are for some reason (which you presume to be malice) not sharing this information. I think this is an incorrect assumption - these problems are not the easiest things to find causes and solutions for. You probably know just as much as they do: there is an issue with some cars, internal wear is a result of the issue, and certain VINs could be affected. That is basically a statement of "we don't have a fix at the moment". Keep in mind these updates were intended for dealers, not customers. I'm not sure what else you want Subaru to tell you.

If they can pinpoint the issue to particular VINs, they must know something. They know what changed in the manufacturing at that point.

We're a pretty small subset of their customer base though, so it's probably not a large enough issue to publicize.

However, that's a lot of detail and I'm sure we won't know what the issue is until they have a fix. My concern is that it's a serious design issue that's going to set back production by quite a bit. But who knows. It's just guessing at this point.

I know what you are saying and I am just upset that I don't have my car yet but at somepoint some one from Subaru must take the stand and say we are working on it and we are going to give you updates at this rate.

I know that they will not do this as they may be held liable in some suit that no one has thought of yet. But that is the type of communication I want to hear about cuase I am having my dreams killed by not being able to drive my car. If this was just another normal plain jane type car would I care "no" but this is one sweet car.

I highly doubt this has anything to do with the 07-08 engine, which is essentially just a revision of the 04-06, but with slightly different/some better parts. If this is was a goof up in manufacturing, like many people believe, it could have happened to any model year of STi/I.

Where did that come from?

I think most of us here complaining aren't worried about the issue. We just want our cars. I'm jealous of you. I'd be doing the same thing.

I was at the Dealership in Reno today having my car serviced and went into the Sales area to look at a red '08 STI they had there. When the salesman approached, I asked about the STOP SALE order and he tried to tell me it only affects Foresters! The STI's were OK to sell. (It wasn't clear to me whether he meant that is where it is with the order from Subaru now or if he thought that from the beginning only the Forester was affected.) I told him my understanding was that it affected all models with 2.5T engines. In any case, I wasn't sure that he was being totally up-front with me but we both agreed it was not good for their sales this month. What gets me is that there is no official news to the consumers from SOA. Their website's latest news article is "04/10/08 - Subaru Reports Strong March 2008 Retails Sales". I understand a STOP SALES order is not good news but I think they should report it to the public (since most of us already know about it from the online forums).

Why report it to the public? It's only relevant to the people buying cars, and the best way to get that information out to those people is by way of the dealer selling them the car.

It wasn't entirely ignored by the media:
Motors - Executive Style Home - smh.com.au

The Japanese carmaker yesterday suspended worldwide sales of several Subaru models after identifying "less than 10 instances" of excessive big-end bearing wear in models using its high-performance 2.5-litre turbocharged engine.

Hey I waited years for the hatchback model... I was in the market for a new car about 3-4 years ago but I sat on my 99 RS when I got a wind of the 08 redesign..... so I feel your pain
