I assume this is an engine management issue. The cobb AP should keep things safe?

Actually, if this is such a serious issue, why didn't anyone here or elsewhere make a claim on it. I wouldn't have been surprised if the cause of the cease-sale was for the paint issue... Anyone heard of such problems?

It could be, but I wouldn't assume that at this point. There's nothing to base that assumption on, it could be anything from an issue with the turbo to overheating to god knows what.

Probably because most of the people with broken-in engines have VINs not affected by the SOA alert, as evidenced by this thread.

That would be weird since I just recently bought it and maybe it has been sitting on the lots for a couple of months already?

This doesn't specifically mention the STI but it is an Impreza so I assume this involves the STI.
Doesn't the info "plate" in the driver's door jamb list the production date? I just bought mine (819xxx) Monday, but the build date was in 11/07.

If it isn't, then it was a pretty good prank, or not. It seems legit though.

I've never heard of a mfg doing this. (stopping the sale of all cars) Have you guys? Wow, if this is ACTUALLY TRUE, this should be all over the news. God, I hope not.

Well Subaru is not stopping ALL their cars, just the 2.5l turbo Impreza & Forester with certain production numbers/dates.
