Take all you can because the insurance company wont let you buy it back and part it out! Its against NYS law to sell u back a car thats 7 years old or newer.

C'mon guys, gut the car before it gets totalled? Are you kidding, or just morally bankrupt? Aftermarket parts are fair game as long as they're not being covered, but all the stock parts belong to the insurance company if they total it. I wouldn't blame the insurance company for refusing to pay out at that point, or at the very least pay out only what a gutted non-wrecked chassis is worth.

I second that. I don't think you'd want to strip another's car...weird to think of your car as another's but if they total it out, they usually retain title for salvage.

+1 for Suby safety. Good to know the car saves lives! Must've been pretty bad for all the airbags to deploy though.

That sucks to hear....but I hope that you dont have Allstate because they are prone to repair cars that should have been a total.

Agreed, glad nobody was hurt, and happy to hear the airbags were effective. Knowing that I'm surrounded by 10 airbags is nice for peace of mind.

You know it's much more apparent where the bags are now. They made sure to identify them with markings. I kinda like it.
