IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2006 Trader Rating: (3) | Chris and I have been in contact about that uber hawt S5 motor that I want so badly and I had asked about their plans for this year. We have seen the skyline video, but they also aren't forgetting their heritage when it comes to Subaru's! ![]() I really wish they were a vendor on here again. I'll email chris and see why they aren't. ![]() the latest: NEWS ALERT: CRAWFORD PERFORMANCE BUILDING 2008 SUBARU WRX STI FOR TIME ATTACK CAMPAIGN Three months into 2008, and there is one question that consistently arises: “What is Crawford Performance up to?” Well, we may have been hard to reach and maybe a little tight-lipped…but it’s time to let the cat out of the bag. As some of you are aware, for the last few years there has been a fair amount of attention focused on our Crawford Performance 2006 Time Attack Subaru WRX STI. That campaign was long and successful, winning nineteen 1st place victories, four 2nd place wins, and setting twelve records. As successful as it may have been, focusing on the past is what keeps you in the past. With the future in mind, Crawford Performance has decided to partner up with several key players in the automotive industry to focus on a new project based on the 2008 Subaru WRX STI. This Skunk Works project, which is scheduled to debut at the upcoming Long Beach Grand Prix (April 17-20), will take one new 2008 STI, build it into a fully Unlimited Time Attack car and campaign it in select races such as Redline Time Attack, Super Lap Battle, GT LIVE, and select Subaru events throughout the 2008 racing season. Our objective at Crawford Performance is to continue developing brand awareness for all our partners and sponsor as we continue pushing the performance envelope of the Subaru WRX STI. As always, Crawford Performance strives to exceed expectations, all the while producing an STI that enthusiasts around the world can be proud of. A whole-hearted ‘thank you’ to all the Crawford Skunk Works Partners and Supporters. We eagerly look forward to showcasing our 2008 STI in what should amount to another memorable and successful Time Attack season! Long live the Fraternity of STI! IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2006 Trader Rating: (3) | Crawford Performance 2008 Subaru WRX STI makes impressive debut at Long Beach Grand Prix April 24, 2008/ Oceanside, CA: This past weekend (April 17-20) was the 34th running of the Long Beach Grand Prix. Crawford Performance was extended an invitation to this motorsports bonanza to help kick off the inaugural Super Lap Battle series. Not only was it a first time for thousands of viewers to experience the competition Super Lap Battle, but it was also the debut of Crawford Performance’s new 2008 WRX STI as driven by Eiji ‘Tarzan’ Yamada. The journey started approximately several weeks prior when team Crawford set forth to meet a few Herculean goals: - Debut the 2008 Subaru WRX STI at the Long Beach Grand Prix in a striking livery, - Showcase the performance potential of the 2008 Subaru WRX STI while…working under strict time constraints towards car build (6 weeks), correctly engineer parts, and present a professional team image. Team Crawford did not disappoint. Their stellar debut performance earned them a 2nd place win in class (only a mere .8 sec from 1st) and 4th place overall finish. What makes this more impressive is that the Crawford skunk works team had only six weeks to prepare the 2008 Subaru WRX STI, make it track worthy, and that the first shakedown of the car was actually at the Long Beach Grand Prix. To add, Driver Tarzan Yamada, “I was a little worried before I drove the car because it had no track time on it. After just one lap, I was more than surprised to see how far ahead the car really was developed, more so than any new 2008 WRX STI I have driven in any other country.” When asked about what he sees in the car and Crawford’s future, Tarzan exclaimed: “I can genuinely say that I was very impressed with what Crawford achieved in so little time. With a few more changes, this car can be the fastest Subaru WRX STI on the track. I’m honored to have been selected to be a part of Crawford Performance’s skunk works team. I can’t wait to get behind the wheel again!” This caps off the beginning of the season for Crawford Performance. More about Long Beach Grand Prix: The current race circuit is a 1.968-mile temporary road course carved out of the city streets surrounding the Convention Center of Long Beach, California. It is particularly noted for its last section, which sees a hairpin turn followed by a long, slightly curved front straightaway which runs the length of Shoreline Drive. The circuit is situated on the Long Beach waterfront, and is lined with palm trees (especially along the front straightaway), making for a scenic track. Thank you to all the Crawford Skunk Works Partners and Supporters. We eagerly look forward to showcasing our 2008 WRX STI in what should amount to another memorable and successful Time Attack season!
