Default after the fact, fogs.....

Anyone know if the stealership can pup Fogs in, if I don't buy the BBS/Fogs package ?

I want Fogs, but don't love the BBS wheels and would probably put something else on her for shoes......

If you're doing fogs after the fact...then you should probably go aftermarket. It will likely be cheaper and it will also be different from all the other 08's with stock fogs (mine included).

Most aren't application specific. You just buy them, figure out where to put them and mount them. Just make sure it's a clean install.

Here are some ideas to get you started... PIAA

2008 WRX STI Fog Lamp Kit - Lighting

Not sure about other vendors, but he sells it as a complete OEM kit, plug and play.

I think you can get HID fogs from PIAA. Which would be awesome.

Doesn't seem like a bad price for what you get.

I'm having the OEM factory lights installed. I ordered them with the car but they are backordered apparently, so right now my car just has the plastic covers (bleh). I didn't realize that you have to replace the turn signal stalk...interesting.

FWIW, I think the OEM foglights, or at least the bulbs, don't do much of anything. They really don't add enough light to be effective. I ordered yellow HID bulbs that should be here soon, I'm hoping they will improve things.

In my 02 WRX, the fogs really helped a lot. I did not like driving without them on.

But I very barely notice the fogs on my 08 STI. the lowbeams are so bright and can be aimed low, that the fogs are almost pointless. I have not had the pleasure of driving in real fog to see if they really do make a difference in that specific instance.

Go aftermarket if anything.

The foglight switch is added on with the new signal stalk.

Even if the foglights do nothing for the driver, they are still 2 more lights to help the other crackhead drivers see you coming.

I raised the headlights on my car last week and the foglights fill in nicely underneath now.

I still think that the adjustable headlights are a strange feature.

Nice plug, I replied.

I'd like fogs, but just like the OP, I didn't want the BBS, mainly because of the extra cost. In my area, you really don't run into a whole lot of fog either, so I've always seen them more as a cosmetic mod, than a function mod.

That could very well be part of the issue, I haven't raised the headlight throw yet. Either way, new bulbs are cheap - hopefully the combination of adjusting the heads and putting in new bulbs will make them worth having.

The fogs look nice, but they are not very effective in the fog or otherwise. They are nowhere near as effective (brightness, throw) as the JDM fogs I had on my 05.
