I got mine, no haggling and no questions asked for 33,655 plus about 400 in options thrown in. Trade in value on my 120k+ 03 bugeye they gave me near private party value for the condition it was in. Also financed me at 4.55%!!! Very easy to get the car cheap now, and at that interest rate I will probably have it paid off within a year or two and won't be paying an arm and a leg a month if I get into a pinch.

As for the thread, crazy that you are already parting with the car!! However most would rather see it get driven than be a garage whore!

Milwaukee, WI area

I actually emailed a sales guy that I have been keeping up with at a local dealer that at least when I was buying my WRX would not budge in price EVER. So needless to say I was suprised when they took my offer.

I just emailed him, told him what I wanted to pay (invoice), and that if I traded my car in I wanted 500 below KBB private sale in Good condition. They had no problem with it. So with tax savings from the trade in I still get my private sale value. The car had a lot of physical blemishes and was in an accident at one point with 3k+ in body work.

I would have struggled to get even my trade in value on the private market, especially from a modded 120k+ mile 2003. No one would believe I didn't rag on it. I had a strong stock clutch to prove it but oh well

I don't think $35k is a bad deal, especially considering how Matt treats his cars. Someone will likely come along and pick it up for asking price I'd imagine.

I'm actually thinking of doing the same thing, 4k miles on my 08. After wanting an STI for 4 years (should have ponied up the extra money instead of an 04 WRX) I'm thinking I would enjoy something different at this point, 335i/G37, maybe Cayman S/Elise.... not totally over the "racer" car, but the STI isn't quite enough different/drastically better over my Stage 4 WRX. Don't get me wrong, I do very much enjoy the car... just something missing I think. Maybe stage 2-3 will help me along.

Strange comment? The reason I'm going to buy an 08 and not an earlier model STI (also because I make more money now) is because it no longer looks like a boy racer car. It's very subdued and clean looking now. No huge wings, no huge air slots, just a simple five door hatchback. One of the reasons I want it in gray is because that will portray an even more mature image. My job doesn't require I drive anyone around (such as clients) but I would not be embarrassed in the least to do so in an 08.

Well to each their own. I'm sure you're going to get talked down in price. $35K is too much (at least I wouldn't pay that). But that's going to be a great deal for someone, as you ate the depreciation expense and they're getting practically a new car. My friend bought a Nissan Altima a couple of months ago and I think he said it 400 miles on it, and it was sold as new. 100 miles is nothing, but once it's been titled that's it, it now is a used car and as such you should expect used car quotes from prospective buyers. Good luck.

I still should have bought this sucker off of you when you where asking less instead of buying one 1300 miles away on the east coast.

Ok, but atleast it looks ok driving down the road and it only cost 28k new and it's lighter and more potent then yours.
