IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | I got 23 mpg (over 500 miles) on Sport mode - 75% congested highway driving (frequent slow downs) and 80% if the time shifting under 4000 RPM's - still doing the official engine break in. Recently it dropped down to 22 mpg due to A/C use - yes - look where I live. Driving home from the dealer in s# got me 11 mpg on the first day. As soon as I get my 1000 miles I am gonna put it back in # and see what I get again. Intelligent is useless for daily driving - you can achieve the same results by adjusting your driving habits - I just want the power to be available when I needed at all times. That's my valet mode - hoping that they won't figure out how to use the Si knob |

| Senior STI Driver | Does adding an AP help with fuel economy, given that your habits don't change? I'm getting 25mpg on my WRX and that is on a congested highway and some street driving. I used to average 23 before I got the AP. Just wondering. |

Wow..Worst I have ever seen is 16.5 MPG in Sport Sharp ~ my average daily MPG in 3.1 k miles is 18.5 to 19.5 MPG ~ Enjoying some boost, mostly stop & go city driving... I don't drive in the default sport setting ,though I would imagine that should be better...hmmm , maybe it's calculating wrong on the nav screen-I don't have Nav pkg and am just going with what the readout says on the dash top next to the passenger airbag light. Oh and yes, I am COBB Stage II ( downpipe ) like CrashOmatic. Last edited by adoinfl; 03-31-2008 at 04:37 PM. Reason: oops.

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | I seem NOT to be able to break the 19.2 mark no matter how hard I try. I totally agree that the MPG think is KILLING me. Everytime it goes down I feel bad about it. Today I drove to work and back (some food shopping too) all in I-Mode just to get back to 19.2. I'm very easy on the car most of the time (I redline once in a while but not often). Uggh, I'm going to drive to drive in S# mode for a week and see how low I can go. (reverse the game, I figure I could get 18MPG in S# mode all the time). Last edited by pisymbol; 03-31-2008 at 06:00 PM. |

I don't drive in any other mode other than # Sharp ~ The 'SI' system from what I understand is all about throttle response & your driving style still determines your M.P.G I belive. And as a note to all , my STI has absolutely got much Better M.P.G since I went Cobb stage II w/Catted Downpipe ~ It is much smoother to drive than when it was stock, the rpm's build up quicker and easier and when you do want some juice it's really goes....

Contrary to the 'helper light' that has you shift at ridiculously low rpms when in I mode, I've found that if I let the car rev a little higher before shifting my mpg is better. Try turning off the mpg display and driving it 'normally', shift the care when you think it should be shifted. I usually shift just shy of 4k in the lower gears when driving and I saw my mpg go up. I'm currently running a 20.1 mpg over the last 1500 miles with city and highway driving, although most of those miles are less higway. Also, my mpg went up by over 3 mpg during break-in and then jumped again with Cobb stage 1. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad.
