Default Today I rode in Harman's 08 STI at Buttonwillow Raceway

Today, another SoCalSubies member and I drove up to Buttonwillow Raceway to check out the time attack event. There were a number of Subarus including the GST Motorsports Impreza L, EDO Performance's STI, LIC Motorsports STI, Dyno Comp's STI, Easy Street's STI (which will appear at the upcoming Long Beach event), and a few Harman Motive STIs, including their 2008 STI.

I believe the car has an AP with Harman tune, Turbo back exhaust, Stage 2 Brake Upgrade, KW coilovers, and aftermarket wheels with Yokohama race tires (I assume R compound). (see their member journal here, which hasn't been updated recently to reflect these additions)

I have driven and been the passenger in countless 2004-2007 STIs at Buttonwillow over the past 5 years, so I am familiar with the feel.

Harman's 2008 STI felt more powerful than most other Cobb Stage 2 cars with similar suspension mods and R compound tires. Since I wasn't driving the car, I don't know how much the steering on the 08 STI has changed as compared to the previous generation but I noticed that the car seemed to rotate with less effort than a similarly modified 04-07 STI.

We were able to keep up with a WRX that had a V-mount intercooler and 60 more horsepower. We would have passed it but we came in sooner that we expected because it was the end of the day.

Overall, I was very impressed.

I took some cell phone pics of the STIs I mentioned above that I will post later.

Great--look forward to the pics. How'd the car sound with the TBE compared to 04-07s? Basically the same or what?
