Default paranoid?

it might be just me but this is how i feel...i just got my new 08 black sti wed night and it only had 4 miles on it... i have been reading the threads about how the paint chips and what not... we are just getting over the winter here around chicago and the roads are still **** and salt is still down....im driving around and hear the rocks and salt being thrown up at my new baby and just cringe at the thought... i have the rally armor flaps on order, but it still freaks me out hearing all of it while driving around.. i must say i love this car though, i had a 04 rx8 and this car is so much easier to drive... im coming over now from a 2003 4door long bed chevy diesel.... i will miss blowing the smoke everywhere, but i wont miss having to slow down for those curves!

Hurry and go get the clear bra install and make sure you cover all the bottom portion. That is where it will help the most.

i actually just got quote on that for $500... it covers the hood, bumper, fenders(front), and mirrors.. that seem about a right price? my other question is once the car gets older will this clear bra ever fade and be noticable if the other paint fades around it?

The price sounds about right. I actually end up paying more because I wanted them to add couple of more pieces to the car for extra protection. As for the film fading, it really depends what film they use. The guy I go to uses ventureshield and I had not seen any noticeable fading from the film on all my previous cars. Bottom line is make sure they use good quality film.

The rear fenders are the worst spot because the front tires kick all the muck right into them - if you get clear bra, you'll definitely wanna hit the rear fenders.

Just finish installing my RA flaps and Horn upgrade today. Do you think it's overkill to have the clear bra have on the rear doors and fenders? Just trying to save a bit on my next mod.

If you have the RA mudflaps, I don't think you will need the clear bra on the fenders. I've had one version or another of the RA flaps on my car for about a month now and they have kept most if not all the over spray off the rear section of the car.

That said...can you really be too certain with this paint?
