Guys, it's not sad, it's just our decision. I do the same route to 7-11 on my bike and by walking... all without a seatbelt

Or sometimes before I drive to work, I make a detour in my alley to dump a trash bag and I leave the belt off because I'm going to jump out in 15 seconds.

If you are an adamant seatbelt wearer at all times, then disregard this thread. Thanks to the TheHammer and Josh for the great info

Just to let you know I am a Health Care Professional...and work in ER's often. Please use your seatbelt. The last thing anyone needs is to see another poor soul with serious brain trauma and the families that have to care for them. Just use it...or do yourself a favor and make yourself a DNR (do not resuscitate) and save yourself the trouble and heart ache of the aftermath of serious injury...like a ventilator or worse.

Is there a way to turn the seatbelt warning back on if you turn it off?

Agreed.

I have my seatbelt alarm disabled even though I always wear my seatbelt. I just don't want to listen to it and a lot of times when I'm warming up the car in the morning before leaving for work I don't have it buckled. I'd feel naked actually driving without the belt on, but that's my choice. As long as I don't have to pay the cleanup cost, I think everyone should be able to choose for themselves...

Motherly? Gee...that's a first We are all adults, but just stating what I have seen. Besides, I have been in an MVA and the belt saved me a lot of pain and suffering. Now, I just have to deal with the parents that leave the kids jumping around the car making funny faces at me while I drive, but mom/dad have their belts on

Simply, always use a seatbelt,no need to disable, its starting with this, and then-"well another 30mph wouldnt hurt anybody" then boom, accident, insurance climbs high for nice and talented people who wants to buy a new suby!!no disaplin!

Think about it.

I just want to say that this thread is helpful because my dog likes to ride shotgun, but he is a dick and won't wear a seatbelt.

Yeah, resetting the ECU turns it back on (disconnect battery cable then hit the brake cable a couple times).

I hear yeah, I always wear mine...wouldnt feel right without it. But there are situations were you dont want to have it on...they are few...but they do exsist. The obvious one is the bag of groceries on the passenger seat...the less obvious one is when you are shuttling your kids around for trick or treat...motoring around at 10-15mph and stopping freequently to get out (dont worry I still buckle my kids in). One could probably think of various situations were the ***ding ding ding*** is just too much.

Why dont they make it chime when the speed sensor is active. Some times I like to sit and listen to music during a lunch break, and be warm in my car. I had an 07 2.5i for a loner and it drove me nuts with the chiming. (trying to take a nap listening to music on a lunch break on a cold seattle day)

.

Thanks shift.
I live in a residential area where you have to drive like 2 miles at a posted 15kph, through speed bumps, zigzags, kids chasing balls, fat people running, etc. Believe you me, I need to disconect that stupid reminder chime that reminds us NOT to be stupid.

What has this change to hatchback done to everyone?!?!?

It went from "Yeah, man. Lower it, make it stiff, boost the balls off it, hang a big ol' coffee can exhaust on and drive like your hair was on fire! Scare old ladies and terrorize cars costing twice as much where ever the road bends. Live free and fast -- screw the po lease!"

To "Golly willikers that dinging is giving me the darndest headache. How can I make it stop?" "Whoa there buster, best to wear that seatbelt! Federal crash studies say... Click it or ticket... Hands at 3 and 9... You'll put your eye out..."

I disabled the chime and cut the seat belts out. I have 14" bong in one of the cup holders so I can be "calm" in traffic. I took out the speedo and taped off the tach so I can only see the numbers above 3k. I glued the SI-drive on the S# position and tore off all the mirrors. I get about 11MPG and I hope all the paint chips off so I can paint the whole car flat black;-)

There were threads on this subject in 07, and before that in 06, and so on.

While we're at it, I'm going to make a thread asking how to disable the beeping noise my keyless entry makes. It wakes up my wife when I leave at night to visit the mistress.
