the worst part and biggest problem with a vette is the cost of replacement tires. you have no spare so you have to have runflats. thats the big hurt effect of the vette.

You need to test drive the new BMW 135i next.

Not true. I never ran the run-craps. I kept a can of fix-a-flat and an electric air compressor in the car at all times.

F run flats. Triple A baby! It's not like you're ever going to be driving your Corvette somewhere in the woods or something and be far away from civilization.

putting fix a flat into a tpms valve stem will destroy it. it says it in the owner manual.

put a Stage 1 (chip+cat back) on the 135i and it should out run your stage 2 STi in a straight line. The 135 I6 TT is no joke. I think with time we'll see more reasonably priced mods for it. A lot of tuners who're known in the STi and Evo crowd are getting into the 135/335.

for the 135 to win on a track, you probably have to loose those run flat and put a real LSD in it.

I'm still debating whether to get the 135 or the STi... tough choice

True, I could tell that the 135i has a real powerful engine. I just wish the 335i had a LSD stock, but I think the 135i does. I am buying my time because the market is poor and going down hill with the way the economy is. So, I am going to wait an see. If I could get a good deal I am really leaning toward the 135i...I guess I am still hurting not getting a Supra TT when I had a chance but this feels very similar with its 3.0L I6 TT/6-Speed

unfortunately the 135i doesn't have a real LSD, it has one of those electronic crap.

the 135 doesn't cost that much more over the STi. I did some homework on that. If you go for the essential options, like the Sports Package, premium Hi-Fi (it's good stuff, I've it on my Z4, sounds awesome), maybe a IPod adapter or HD radio, it's around 38k (MSRP, no one is getting invoice on the 135). The STi with similar options (no BBS wheels) is around 34k(invoice), approx 4k difference.. The BMW comes with 4yrs maintenances which the STi doesn't, that has to account for something. I never own a STi, so I don't know how much it'd cost to maintain it. but I'd say at least 2k? So the STi is only around 2k less than the 135.

I'm not sure how the economy is gonna do us any favors on getting a cheap 135. BMW said they aren't making enough money on the 1series because of the exchange rate, so they aren't gonna make that many of them (iirc 10,000 units, i.e. all 1-series, for the US) and not gonna offer any incentives.

Edit: Forgot to mention, I priced out insurance on both the 135 and STi on geico.com, 135 cost less to insure than the STi. Only geico has 135 and STi on their database when I check, so I don't know if it's in general a cheaper car to insure.

Where have you been dude?
I just keep telling myself the STI will be better on the autocross course, otherwise I get depressed when driving by BMW dealers.

why?? its a BMW. big deal. i've ridden in many and i'm not overly impressed with them. i think when i'm out of the STI rage i'm gonna step up into an S4 or something. seriously even the cost ratio i'd rather have the STI over the i35. the STI looks sporty while the BMW looks pompous.

The 135i is HOT! The 08 STi looks like any other ugly hatchback.
