Default A-Stock 285's fit

I just mounted up some 285/30/18 Kumho V710's and they appear to work just fine. I did a little aggressive driving in an empty parking lot and it didn't seem to rub at all. I have my 1st autocross this weekend and I will find out for sure if there is any rubbing. There wont be any problems with the rear and I really think the fronts will be OK as well.

Do you have the pictures hosted online already? A couple free image hosting sites would probably be:

I've seen guys on Nasioc running the same thing with minimal camber. A year ago.

But props for having the motivation to post the info

I must be. I'm not used to 08' owners posting threads.

Carry on, don't mind me.

Were people actually able to run 285s on an '04-'07 without any modification to the fenders?

Nice! How hard was it getting them on the wheels? I would have liked to run Kumhos for our first set and run Hoosiers later in the season when time really matters. I've always heard this size Kumho was impossible on an 18x8.5

It wasn't easy. But luckily yesterday was nice and sunny and my tire guy said he let them sit in the sun and then they went on alright. I know an RX-8 guy (Carter Thompson) fits them on an 8" wheel. But no one else has done it as far as I know. He must have a secret.

Those are massive! Other pics would be great.

Would they fit on stock BBS without rubbing? Will it slow the car down?

These are the wheels I just painted them Black.
Kosei K3 Emery Gold

I think they should work on the stock wheels. They do have an offset of 50 instead of the stock 55. This may be enough of a difference to make them rub. It would definitely work in the rear (there is so much clearance back there).

Based on my testing of 275/35 Hoosiers, they would be pretty much into the front strut on stock wheels. The rear would be fine. A 3mm spacer or some +52 wheels should fix it.

Will it slow the car down? From the extra rolling resistance you mean? No way, the extra grip in corners more than makes up for that. It will, however, change your gearing a bit because the 285/30 is pretty short.

FYI, my Volks and 275 Hooisers weigh about 16 pounds per corner less than the stock STI setup.

I was also concerned about gearing so lets do a little comparo: the width of the V710 off of the car is 10 1/4 inches and the height is 24 5/8 inches at 40 psi. What are your 275 Hoosiers?
Of course none of this could matter as the V710 is supposedly faster on heavy, camber challenged cars.

On a side note I was able to get 1.2 degrees of negative camber on all four corners but no more. What is everyone else getting on their stock setup.
