IWSTI Addict since: Jul 2006 Trader Rating: (2) | 31, married with the first kid arriving in about a month. ![]() I went from an 05 STi to a 08 Honda Civic (for about a month) to a 07 Forester XT. I realized I wouldn't be happy without an STI in the family. It is now our "family" car. Ha ha. It is perfect. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | I didn't have an sti, but I had a built wrx that rivaled most built sti's on track. As for the question on how the younger guys are affording STI's - In my situation, I am a network engineer for a startup company. Going to school for computer science and engineering . |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | 41, married, kid + critters, etc. First STI (on its way), have an 01 Forester along with a 97 Ford Ranger and 4WD 45HP FLB Kioti tractor (not much for speed, but *excellent* low-end torque...) We get serious snow/ice here, and a good long stretch of icy-muddy-steep road to maintain and travel daily, 4WD/AWD is a must-have. This last couple of years has been just about the first time since I started driving that I didn't have some kind of performance-oriented DD or trackable/rally-ready car, almost always driven turbo hatches -- 1G Eagle Talon, 2G Mitsu Eclipse, 1G Audi TT, etc. The '77 280Z was an exception, but was still a hatch, and there was that Maxima SE for the first year or two we had our kid. My first rustbucket beater car in high school was a hatch (and an ugly one, at that) -- a Dodge Colt 5-door...little did I know at the time that car (and the Mitsu Mirage it was rebadged from) were well-known rally cars of their day. All I knew was that it was wicked fun sliding around the red-clay mudpit backroads in it, and it could take one hell of a beating. So now I need something that's going to carry me, and sometimes my family, around northern New England 4-seasons (well, 5 including Mud Season), that holds most things I want to throw in or on it, that handles well enough to go where I point it and have big fun on pavement and backroads, that takes mods well, and that pulls hard when I ask it to. Every so often it may see a track, or a bit of rally, but most of the time this is a DD. So Subaru nailed me with the 08, it's the best all-around combination out there of what I want and need. We'll see how I feel after driving one for a while and getting a chance to fix it up a bit. |

| Lurker | 36 married with 2 kids. had an '04 then i got an infiniti m35 for the family. very cool car but didn't excite me like my STi. So, cue the hatchback and it's "family friendliness" and now i've got my '08. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
