Default GR Sedan?

So today I called my insurance (USAA-very good company) to add my 08 STi and the VIN isn't recognized (first). The rep tells me I must be reading it wrong to which I reply I am not and he puts me on hold. He comes back and the conversation roughly follows the following sequence:

<Crazy_conversation>
Him: Ok, I was able to locate the 2008 STi vin in [some special vin book...?].
Me: OK, great.
Him: So you have a 2008 Subaru STi.
Me: Yes.
Him: Is it a hatchback or a sedan?
Me: Ummm. They only make a hatch.
Him: There is a sedan showing in [some special vin book].
Me: Well mines a hatch....
</Crazy_conversation>

So there it is....can anyone with access to whatever book lists vins look this up? I love the hatch because I have kids and stuff, but this conversation certainly perked my curiousity.

Its a question they asked based on the style in the impreza line. My 67 Camaro V8 got labeled z-28 in their books because it had a v8 even though in 67 ther were 4 v8 models and the z-28 was a ultra rare low production model used for the sole pourpose of trans-am racing and wasnt a regular more common option until 69. I blew it off because its so old and there system reconized newer model car packages. Its just some stupid insurance genral question. No reason for it to keep you awake at night.

Not everybody is as smary as us.

When he brought up the impreza, it would show 2.5i, wrx, and the sti so he probably got confused.

They couldn't find my VIN either. Ended up they had to enter it manually. Whatever that means. My '05 was listed as a "Subaru WRX STi Sedan" and the '08 is listed as a "Subaru WRX" and that's it. Odd it was.

Please, when I got my 07 STI the vin was wrong he could not locate the car. All he could tell me is the price for the "highest" priced quote for an impreza. Same when I called for a quote on the 08. Wierd that these cars arent showing up.
