rolled tips are cheese.. keep the raw cuts, please?

*also, it does sound like it needs a change in the resonator..
is this catless and, as asked above: will this be a 3" with no tapering..

Can anyone say 99 Chevy Camaro? I think there are too many similarities. Lower the tone, and PLEASE ditch the raspyness.

Also, please keep costs low.

Here's my 2 cents.

Rasp needs to go and it needs to drop a few DB.
Could you guys do a single and double tip design? It would cover alot more market and make everyone happy.

definitely needs a resonator.

still not a fan of quad tips with only two of then getting exhaust flow.
my stock exhaust has black tips on the outside, while the two on the inside are nice and clean. and it looks like this one will suffer the same faith

if it's possible, try to get a piece of straight pipe in between the 90 degree bend, and the Y where you split the tips, let the flow straighten out so it splits evenly to both tips.

Wow... tough crowd. but I guess if you going to do it.... do it right. I agree a deeper tone would be ideal.

I personally love the idea that you are staying with the quad tip design. It fits very well with the car and Subaru made the right decision in the first place to put it there. Big 4" tips wont work on this car.

With that said, it doesnt sound like there is a resonator in there. Maybe even catless without resonator. Almost sounds like an old 70's trans am V8. Certainly not the best sounding motor if you ask me.

Like the others have said, its a bit too loud and raspy/harsh.

If you could get the classic COBB sound like that of your 04-07 STi I would buy it in a heartbeat. ESPECIALLY if it was just an axle back. Im just looking for a better sounding exhaust, I have enough power out of your stage 1 program.

Cobb,

Can you please tell me everything that has been done to the car in the video engine/intake/exhaust/downpipes etc? What I am wondering is will my car sound like that if I *only* buy the exhaust. Does/would that exhaust have a resonator still and make all the stock emission requirements and such? I need to have that sound on my car ASAP...

One way I thought about going was with an exhaust cut out. I know the DP will add a little throat to the exhaust note, but with the cut out you could bypass the muffler for as much or as little noise as you want.

I added to the first post, but I will repeat here as well.

Keep in mind that this is a first prototype of a muffler design we have not used before and the system on this car is completely catless. We wanted to test it under the loudest and rasp-iest circumstances possible.

The final design will likely include a resonator farther forward in the cat-back to tone out some of the rasp and some dB. With a catted downpipe on the car, the rasp will be greatly reduced. We will not release an exhaust that does not pass the SAE noise standard (95dB) as a full catted, COBB turbo-back exhaust, that all of our systems currently conform to.

Also, the production muffler's seam will be on the top and not visible from beneath.

We do not have any plans for two rolled single tips. IMHO and most of those here, think it looks like something is missing or empty in the bumper cut-outs with singles. How large the cut-outs are, the shape, and how the bumper skin surrounds the tips, it just does not look right to have something that is not at least twice as wide than it is tall.

Currently the system will still be the same that has a taper that uses the factory donut gasket. As soon as we get manufacturing fully sorted and I can find a 3” donut gasket I like we will offer a full 3” system. As of yet it has not posed a restriction until around 450 h.p.

Price will be as low as is possible with a full 304 stainless system, with a huge muffler, 4 polished tips, a resonator, etc, etc, etc.

Full list of mods to the shop 2008 STi:

COBB AccessPORT (Stage 2)
COBB Prototype Catless TBE
COBB Prototype BPV (set to fully recirculate, so we are not being hypocritical there )
COBB Prototype SF Intake with Airbox
COBB Double Adjustable Short Throw Shifter
Prodrive GC05F Wheels (18”x9.5”, +44 Offset)
Toyo R888 265/35-18 Tires
Prodrive Adjustable Seats (replacing the “bench” seats up front)
Prodrive 4 Point Harnesses

For those of you interested the car will be at the Redline event at Buttonwillow this coming weekend doing rides for interested parties. By then the head lights and tail-lights will get the panted Eric treatment, the prototype sway bars will be added, and hopefully prototype springs as well.

Do you by any chance have soundclips with a catted DP?

Thats all exactly what I wanted to hear. Now tell us when we can buy it!

One question. Will you update the stage 2 93 map for this new gear? I will be buying the full catted tbe and SF air box. Will AP V2 owners need to get protuned?

Sounds like I will be boarding this boat and be buying this setup. I will probably get the AccessPort at the same time I get the COBB TB exhaust from you guys. Please release it soon.

Sounds great, I'm not getting it

Three reasons:
1) I like the stock sound, keeps the stealthy character of my DGM, with a child seat and bike racks. I even like the look of the stockers.
2) Low Power to $$ ratio.
3) My Stage 2 is dialed in so well (with an OTS map, THANKS COBB!), I don't want to nudge toward a less dialed-in tune.
