Default Time Attack 08 STI's...

I've heard the 08STi is an improvement over the previous model. While I haven't seen any 08model WRX/STI at The Streets or WSIR this year, perhaps they'll be one next weekend at the RedlineTrackEvents.com Time Attack at Buttonwillow. Anyone plan to enter their 08STI in Time Attack this year?

There is already a tsukaba video on youtube of the 08 beating both old STi, two new EVO's, and an old EVO, if anyone cares, but I think they are JDM versions.

Subscribed as well.

I'd actually like to see a comparison to the JDM STI and the USDM STI.... but I saw that Best Motoring video, the '08 STI did very well !

JDM vs. USDM
The engine can easily be upgraded using the AP
I think all you need are better tires and race alignment to get it to the BM vid spec.

That's a deceptive video. For the USDM, the Evo has spanked the STI every single time.

^I think that in longer tracks (longer curves and longer straightaways) the STI will beat the EVO everytime and viceversa.

But when Manabu Orido tried both cars (mildly modded for track), he said the STi rotated better. Ugh, can't find that vid in youtube

NVM, found it
YouTube - 2008 Impreza STI by Cusco vs 2008 Evo X By Cusco

Some of the comments have interesting points, and some lame(come on, it's youtube )
Both cars have high potential. All that matters is the setting for the track and the driver.

The car was very fun. And quick.

I was messing with the DCCD and the Coilovers for most of the day trying to get the car dialed in. But with proper settings of the DCCD and the coilovers the car was very responsive.
We where able to outrun GT3-RS, and hang with highly modded street cars. So for the mods that are done to the car, it was very surprising.
With a little more suspension work, and a more aggressive alignment a couple more seconds can be picked up.

The only complaint was the brakes, running track pads and driving relatively hard they go over cooked. Even with SS lines, Fluid, and Pads. So the next major upgrade will be a BBK. As the 3500+LB car is a bit to much for the stock front brakes to handle.

Any Plans for coming up with some brake ducting solution?

The problem with the ducts is that it only cools the back side of the caliper.
Also we want to increase the size of the rotor. The Stock brakes can be modefided to do what we want. But after the price of pads, rotors, and brake ducts , its not to far away from a price of a BBK.
Plus a 14" is much better then the stock 13", no matter how hard you try to keep the stock ones cool.
