you're fishing with stink bait. the type of delivery system to the wheels has nothing to do with the motor's designed power band. they are 2 independant issues.

Another thread full of people that haven't driven an 08 bashing it and comparing it to things it shouldn't be compared to. Can we hurry up and get the 09 released so everyone has a new car to ignorantly bash?

if honda and basically all other manufacturers with their model line-ups, particularly for this topic, the new accord, are noticeably changing, so too is subaru considering it but with this year, they did it with more of an aesthetics approach over power..would have been nice if they could have done both at the same time however they're probably just waiting to get results first and a surprise will surely be awaiting for us later

Yeah, Subaru focused on revamping the underlying platform for the IMpreza line and withheld any major improvments in the engine/drive train arena. I mean, look at the WRX which still has 224 or soemthing around that number and still has the same 5 speed. At least the STI got AVCS on exhaust and ...12 hp gain. Which again, isn't much, and I would expect Subaru to up the power by 2010.

There are quite a few cars out there that pushing the envelope and are edging closer to the STI. Remember back in the day when a Camry would do 0-60 in 10 minutes? Now the Camry has 260+ HP and does it in less than 7 seconds, which pisses off RX-8 owners and MX-5 owners since their cars are slower to 60 (RX-8 can manage 0-60 in 5.9, but I've never actually heard of that happening real world). But RX-8 and MX-5 outhandle and outclass the Camry V6 anyday. Their merits were imbedded in the overall package they offer (handling, feeling, braking, etc.) Back in 2004-2007, I dont' think the STI had this problem of justification. It not only outhandled, out braked, and out-whatever most of its competition, it also had no problem going in a straight line. So there were no faults with the STI. There still aren't any faults with the STI now, except that there are a few cars inching closer and closer in terms of straight line performance, thereby introducing the beginnings of the problems mentioned prior in reference to the miata and 8.

This could be solved with more HP, or it could turn into a non-issue as the STI relys mostly on its ability to put the power down in all sorts of weather, turn and grip, and stop at the drop of a hat.

I wouldn't complain if they added more HP, but I'm not complaining that they didn't.

The good new is Subaru will have to let go of their icon or add more power. Since there's no way they're gonna drop the STI, my guess is they're gonna add more power or add another car the line up that competes with the GT-R.

Are any of you guys following AMR's results? They just posted a new thread today regarding one of their customer's cars:

'08 STI w/CAI + tune (stock exhaust) runs 12.9 @ 109mph w/2.0 60ft:
David's 2008 STi - AMR S1 (Stage 1) TRACK RESULTS! - Proven Power Bragging - NASIOC

Not bad for $300 + tune.

Did you see all the crap that the people on Nasioc are saying about the times? They are questioning the legitimacy of the runs that AMR has been involved in. It might not have been that thread, but it was relentless in another.

375whp honda...suuuree you did. If you were equal drivers he would have slaughtered you from a roll, and came around you around 100mph from a dig

and...no. honda had 0 traction and he started catching right after 100 from the roll.He was peeling out on the rolling start lol.Never said it wasn't pulling on me just said I beat it.All races are up to the driver 900whp or 90whp doesn't matter. Now if he had the suspension and tires I told him to buy it would be different but he told me he could burn my car so I had to show him why traction>hp.

ah well power does make a difference in a race...driver is key and most important but power is def a factor and certainly not something that "doesnt matter"
