although the accord is a nice car, the accord has never won any rally events, therefor it is not "cool" in my book

No one is listening. All I'm saying is if you have two identical cars both making 300 WHP and one is AWD and one is RWD they will both accerlate at exactly the same rate.

unless there is a weight difference...

or the gear ratios are different

no such thing as identical: there are different parasitic losses through the drive train. you have one or two additional differentials in an all wheel drive car.

I agree with the OP and can't wait for Subaru to realize their "sports car" isn't cutting it any more. I love my 06 but there's a reason it's getting a turbo upgrade...

And yeah I know it's not about straight line speed, but guess what? Straight line speed matters and getting rolled by an accord or neon with a boost controller is a serious problem.
