Default best first performance upgrade? Sry I'm new to forced induction...

Hey guys. Im new to this world of forced induction. Got a brand new 08 STi and was wanting to do some mods. Whats everybody's recommendations for first mods? I read some threads and see that air intakes are bad first mods and some should be done after other mods. Just wanting to know what works best. Thanks everyone.

Basic stage 2 setup. Then move onto a protune!

The best bang for your buck would be get a Cobb accesport as stated in a previous post and if you got the spare cash get a downpipe.(this is the first part of the exhaust system after the turbo) This will enable you to flash a stage 2 map and this will be a nice step up from stock.

as stated before, get an accessport, flash your stage1 map. then get familiar with the car, learn how it behaves in different situations.

once you've done that, you'll get a feeling for it, and know what you like and what you don't like. then mod what you don't like

Jarvis do I need a downpipe to flash the stage 2? What are positives to the AccessPort? Better everything is what it sounds like. haha. Any recommendations for brands on the Downpipe?

The AP comes with stage 1 and stage 2 maps, it's plug and play. Getting a protune will make a little more power but it's not necessary.

Don't know about MO, but here in CA, the stage 2 map along with a Cobb DP and stock CB is at Pro-Tune levels. In other words, Cobb's off the shelf stage 2 is so spot on, you don't need to get a Pro-Tune as confirmed by Harman Motive.

There are a lot of variables at play, so YMMV, literally! First off, we're dealing with different fuel and maps. Second, if you go with a CB, this may also make a difference. For me, I wanted the most bang for the buck and I like how the stock exhaust has opened up in both volume and tone so I'm not even wanting a CB. This really adds to the car's stealthiness as well, which is a good thing since I haul my family around in my ride.
