Default Window Tint in '08s

Has anyone tinted the top of their front windshield? There is some sort of pattern on the windshield that I think would interfere with a proper tint. Can this stuff be removed?

Mine is tinted from the factory. The glass has a sort of tint to it.

The stuff in the middle will not come off.

Argh...thats terrible...mine has the factory blue/fade to the top, but I really like having the strip across the top...
Well I guess that means it'll be cheaper to tint this car...

Mine came tinted when I bought it as well, with a black 8 inch strip along the top.

My friend who tinted my windshield, used a fine (special?)sandpaper on the dots, before he putted the tint on the screen !

You can still see the dots, but now they are less visible and i won't have problems with airbubbles on the dots!

Thanks a ton...I think I will do this...the idea of tinting everything but the 8" strip across the top is not a happy thing to me.

I've heard of people putting black vinyl over the black dots, then tinting over the vinyl.

I asked him how he did it exactly!

He used sandpaper 600 and he made the sandpaper a little wet.
It's no problem to use a little bit strenght, you don't have to be "too" carefull.

But don't sand on your glass ,stay on the dots!
You can put some tape around the dots to be sure.

I think that is pretty much the standard when dealing with those dots on the windows.

So I went to talk to the tint shop (?) and the guy said he could tint over the dots, but it would be "squiggly" (?wtf). He said vinyl on the outside is probably the best way to cover that front portion...and then came the part that made me realize I will never use this shop. The guy asked me (drum roll) "Are you tinting your whole windshield or just the strip on top?" I asked him if he was serious and sure as hell he showed me this hideous F-150 in the back with the entire front windshield at like 20%....what kind of redneck a$$ pirate would tint thier ENTIRE front window???? I really want to tint this and "sanding" the dots just scares me.

^ If you want it done that badly, pull your windshield, save it for when you need a new one, have a new one installed, get it tinted.

Even if you're kidding...I might just do that...this would drive my wife crazy since I care about the tidyness of nothing else, but i'm OCD about my car...lol
