Default Just worked a deal :)

Want to thank everyone on this forum for all the great input. I just worked a deal for an 08 STI, Silver with BBS and NAV. I got invoice pricing with one call and email. Picking it up tomorrow. Had to go to the bay area to get the color and options. Will post pics tomorrow after I get it back home.

Congrats Man...

You know whats funny...

I get a call yesterday, the guy tells me hey its Alex from Subaru... I automaticlly think its my new service dept. calling me back, so Im like Yeah, I want to schedual my first service.... and the guy tells me, No its Alex from Leiman Subaru, checking to see if you were still in the market to get the STI....

So I say///
"Man, Im driving my new STI now, I got it at invoice, just like I told you I would! First fully loaded one to arrive.....
He Was SILENT for a sec,.,,

I guess they are starting to realize people aren't rushing to spend 40k on the STI...

I think you will see more incentives over the next few months.

Yea, I told the dealer the same thing, that I wanted invoice, the local dealer here in Sacramento said, I will never find that deal. So it took me 5 days to sell my G35S for 3500.00 more than that dealer was going to give for my trade, and 1 day to work this deal. With the economy the way it is, the dealers better get with the program, no one should pay anything more than invoice. So anyone out there looking, hold firm to no more than invoice.

Good job. Yea, I didnt even have to call for my deal. They gave me under invoice on the internet quote. I also added the extended waranty. Only had my car for 2 days now, and I absolutely love it.

I'm paying cash, so the OTD price we agreed to is it. When I bought my 06 STI, it was harder to work that deal than this one. Are you guys taking your car to the dealer for service? I found this great place when I had my 06 that specialize in Subaru's, they do all the scheduled maintenance at half the price of the dealer and they really know their Subaru's.

I paid invoice in anchorage, alaska and there are only two STi's in the state right now with the next one not expected until may. I just walked into the dealer and said "that's what I want, this is what I'll pay, here is my cell number, call me when you can make it work!" and I left. I went back about four hours later and spent twenty minutes signing papers. Less that 45 minutes total spent at the dealer.

Very nice! What general area of Sacto are you in? I'm in West Sacto. And do you go to the Sacforcefed Thursday night meets? I never can keep screen names straight so if I know you and don't realize it don't take offense

I Live in the Elverta Area. I have not heard of the Sacforcefed club. Where do you meet?

Check out www.sacforcefed.com There is a specific forum for the Thursday night meets. They move around between a few different places each week. Mostly in the Folsom area though which is a drag driving from West Sac

That's funny, only because I'm from the Bay Area and went up to Portland to get a Silver with Nav and BBS for $1000 under invoice last week!

Enjoy the car!

Question, how did you register it in CA? I bought a motorcycle a few years ago in OR to save the sales tax. I has to wait until it had 7500 miles on it to register it in CA as a used motor vehicle.

The problem with your motorcycle is that it didn't meet CA emissions requirements. The new STI is a 50-state car. This is becoming pretty common. Of course, I will still have to pay tax here when I register it. You cannot avoid that, unless you have a legal residence in OR. The rules are fully described here:

Before Buying a Vehicle From Out of State—Be Sure You Can Register It in California (FFVR 29)

The label under the hood of my car lists full CA compliance information.

BTW, I thought it might be useful to know that I went to the CA DMV today and there were no hassles about a new out-of-state STI.

Not always, there are a few loop holes in the system.

I flew to TX and bought a used diesel that was a private seller. Drive it back to CA and didnt register it or do any paperwork on it until 2 years later when I got a registration fix it ticket.

Walked into the DMV with the pink slip and paied a few hundred on penitalites and walked out with registration. I didnt have to pay sales tax, and I got my weight fee's waved because im dissabled.

I talked to a few other's that do this same thing. It only works with certian states and a certian ammount of time.
