The only thing i could say would be... gas milage in todays Oil economy $$$

Other than that, I Love the car! It looks GREAT, turning heads all around southbeach, and thats not easy... considering the cars you see here everyday!

It feels like it is on rails... you can fling it into the sharpest, bumpiest, corners at top speeds... the car will surprise you at what it can handle!

Body roll is minimal, BREAKS AND TRANNY ARE AWSOME!
Power is great, especially if you know how to drive a turbo car, and keep her in the powerband...

it feels like nothing i have driven...
and I had the 05 2.5 LGT, for the past 3 years/.

THE HATCH IS A LIFE SAVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I added an expanding Cargo organizer from THULE, and two quilted packing blankets from Uhaul, and I have kept the interior scuff free even loading all my DJ equipment, and speakers, seveal times a week!~!!

The interior has really grown on me!
and with the added SUB, and Iphone adapter/Video fix// I am in Heaven :-)

cant wait to break her in and reflash!

Reasons not to buy one?

You'll be tired at the end of every day after resisting all the hot chicks that want to be with you.

Main things keeping me out of a new STi is the price, the same slow steering, and the poorly bolstered seats, fix those things and im in.

Are we still discussing the SVX??

Anyway, back on topic. No regrets here. The car has delivered in spades and has exceeded my expectations.

1. The ECU is detuned from the factory, so anyone buying this car should budget an extra $700 for an AccessPort.

2. The factory (non-NAV) stereo is unimpressive, and not up to the same level as the rest of the car. But if they were going to cut corners on something, I'd rather it be the stereo and not something more important. Also, the iPod interface does not work properly with my iPhone. This doesn't matter to me because I got a dedicated iPod just for the car, but it's worth mentioning. I will probably replace the entire sound system, but I'm in no hurry to do that right now.

The "soft" feel of the steering and handling is deceptive at first, but I do not list this as a negative. Once you get used to it, you begin to realize that the car is capable of amazing handling performance. I've spent lots of money on suspension upgrades on other cars to achieve less than what the 08 STi can do in factory form.

Both negative items I listed are easy to fix. The car is amazing, and the fact some other people don't like how it looks does not bother me. I love the way it looks, and I bought the car for me, not anyone else.

which year sti were you looking at in particular? and for me so far is nothing to really tell. i mean there were noticeable differences coming from a european luxury vehicle, however, just differences, no regrets. there was some concern i had with the uncomfortable seats, crappy stereo, slightly lower top end power, and shifting like a truck but i've adjusted to all of that. and of course some mods can help you adjust as i did with my stereo and whatnot. whatever else i have accustomed to now and dont even notice anymore. so it depends how much you are willing to "feel" the sti for the vehicle that it is which is why i couldnt tell any reason, because it is what it is which all depends on if and how you appreciate it

Subaru always has questionabe desighn, but in the end its for the better. Turbo is fine, steering is fine, crash rating is way better than an svx ( why the heck is the svx even mentioned ?), and I cant wait till a 2 door comes out.

Yes--there will be at least one more manifestation of this style and Subaru will do nothing but improve the ride.

Some will argue, but look at the 04 Subaru versus the 05 Subaru. I will not use the 06 to 07 because the 07s actually have more issues. Look at the 03 Evo versus the 04-06 Evo.

Styling gets better, issues are resolved and there are plenty of possibilities for add-ons (heated seats, stock BBS rims, Recaros, sunroof, SEDAN, etc...).

To curb my appetite to buy this 08 STI, I just think how badly I would've wanted a MIVEC equipped Evo versus the 03 and how badly I would've wanted a stereo on my STI.

It looks like paint may be a big issue on the MY08 STIs. That's kept me from biting.

Great comments; thanks. I'm going to look this weekend, and was interested in knowing if there were particular things to look for. I'm going to see how close to invoice I can get, given that there are quite a few stacking up here in CT.
