I don't think brake assist is a problem. I think it's nice in certain circumstances, especially when parking on a hill with cars in front and in back of you. But my post's concern here is mainly about the fact that it's holding the car too long--not disengaging appropriately every once and awhile. To say the 08 isn't really an STi because it has more technology... well, that's up to you to decide. I disagree with it, but it's your decision to buy or not to buy. I love my 08 more than any other car I've ever had. Only thing I wish I had more of was road feel, but I intend to improve that later on with some suspension work.

I just want to know how the brake assist can either be fixed or turned off. Not permanently necessarily, but just to be turned on when I need it. And I did try turning the traction control off, and it didn't seem to fix the problem. I'm pressing the button below the light controls that has a picture of car swerving. That's the traction control button, right?

By the way, on the sticker it is called "Brake Assist", not "incline assist"-just semantics.

Brake assist is different.

Brake assist is when the car, when it detects a panic braking situation, is able to apply full braking pressure faster than you are able to actually floor the brake pedal yourself.

Ah okay, well whatever it's called, I hope we can turn it off.
