Default Test drove my (hopefully) new STI

So I am working on getting my car sold, but the dealership got the 08 blue on gold sti I ordered. They are holding it for me for a few weeks, I should be able to get it in time. I took it for a spin today, just a couple miles. It feels great! I love how solid the doors feel, and the gearbox feels very nice. The thing just wreaks with quality compared to my 06.

I was pretty nice to it and drove it in S mode with the diff on auto. The chassy feels great, and the suspension is very nice. A little body roll, but that should be easily correctable. Its going to be great with a tune, I can just feel it. It gripped very well when I turned in on a huge sweeping offramp - coming from a modded wrx I felt it held its own very well. I thought the brakes were a little lacking, but maybe I was being to nice to them or the fact that they were so new.

Steering was a little numb but doable. I didn't find it THAT bad. I thought that the clutch was WAAAAY too soft! I got into my wrx with its stock clutch and it felt 100# heavier compared to the sti one! Oh well. I liked it! A lot .

The clutch feel was rather shocking for me as well. My '05 and a buddy's '04 had a very stiff clutch. I believe this was changed in '06 or '07, so when I drove the '08 I was quite shocked. The good news is that my wife greatly preferred the feel of the '08 clutch, so that works for me.

If you just cant wait you can buy the STi and continue to try and sell your current ride. BUT if youre anything like me, youll do that, end up spending too much time with your new car and not trying hard enough to sell your old one. I ended up doing that and going to Carmax. Ha, havent looked back since

Nice.. congratulations, and good luck with the old car too. I loved the new clutch feel, can't believe how much softer it is than the WRX. I thought the brakes were monsters, but yeah the pads are brand new, so you gotta give em some time to get worn in. I just found out today that my STI is going to be delayed.. it's coming in on the next shipment at the end of the month. On the good side, I've got a guy coming tomorrow to hopefully buy my WRX, and the dealer told me to go ahead and sell and he'll give me a loaner car for a few weeks
