Default 2008 STi or G37?

I'm not sure which car I like better...

Obviously the STi is more sporty and a bit quicker and lighter by roughly 300 pds.

But...

The G37's design is by far in my opinion the best looking car under $40k and it in no way lacks power... not to mention the added touch of luxury...

What do you guys think?

That's a tough one because you really can't go wrong with either. If you plan on doing track days and canyon runs then the STI has my vote, but if it's your DD and you don't see any snow then it's hard to go wrong with the G. Look at it this way, you drive a Camry so either will feel like a rocket. Drive both and see which one feels right.

Depends on what you want. The G37 is a VERY nice car. I haven't even sat in an 08 sti yet, so i can't really compare. If you get the G37, make sure you order the spoiler with your car. You CANNOT buy it after the car is built. I know horsesh*t huh. Go test drive both. The G37 is lacking in the power department IMO, but it still fun to drive. Good luck with your decision. The G37's interior is very classy. It's also hard to drive the G37. Your view is limited and it feels ALOT bigger from behind the wheel that it actually is..or maybe it is that wide idk.

I think the G37 is gonna be closer to $50k by the time you get it out the door... Its pretty damn sweet though.. it looks like a G35 on steroids.. Fender flairs look angry! Haven't driven one but I'd bet its sweet... To be honest though, their 2 different animals.. not really sure I'd be cross shopping those 2 cars.. Maybe G37 vs. M45 vs. whatever Bimmer is around that $$....

The G37 out the door can probably be had for $44k. I payed too much for mine. At the most, it can be had out the door fully loaded for $47k.

I test drove both vehicles. If you like class and style, G37 is your best bet. If you like an all around vehicle that is killer fast and can handle any type of weather, take the STI. Personally, I drove the STI first and then the infiniti. Based on the drive, the Infiniti made the decision for me. Now I have an STI.

Nice. Does the sti really feel faster than the G? I haven't been in an 08 sti yet.

my dealership finally got in an 08, i saw it today.

honestly, they are awesome in person, and the 08 has more added comfort in my opinion, and nice interior styling.

In every way I felt that the STI was a better DRIVE. The Infiniti definately has the style factor going on though, with the exterior looks and interior finish. But I'm about the drive, and that's why the STI sold me.

Nice. Yeah the infiniti is a sexy car, but i paid too much for it and got ripped off trading in my 06 sti. I shoulda got an S4 blah.... I'm actually thinking about buying another sti. An 05 this time

To be honest, I am very impressed with the new interior, and the fine adjustments that the 08 STI offers, versus the 07 STI. But sitting in the G37 makes you feel like royalty. But that was what I decided to give up to have the STI. I can't complain though, I love the STI thus far.

Plus I live in Canada, it was kind of a no brainer.

I was cross shopping 3 cars when I bought my 08 STI. The BMW 335xi, the G37 and the STI of course. I know these sound like strange x-shops but for me they were the only ones on the list. They all have about the same power but their rides are nothing a like. I know that everyone on this board like to claim that the STI is the fastest car but I would have to disagree from a daily driving point of view. Sure if you at the racetrack and going to lay it down the STI will win almost evrytime, but the reality is, it is a lot of work to get all that power out of the STI, it is really designed and purpose built as the rally car. The advantage of the beemer and the G are that they are fairly easy to extract the power from, it comes on early, flows right through. Daily driving you'll feel a lot faster in either of those cars (especially the beemer). All that being said, I went with the STI, simply because I really enjoy working hard behind the wheel, and the practicallity far out weighted the others. I love having the hatch, and the all wheel drive rocks in the winter (I live in Calgary). Also the STI looks way better with the mountain bike on the roof in the summer. Add that to 10,000 in my pocket and the decision was easy.

So like evryone else said just depends what your priorities are, but I'm sure you will love either.

Thats for the info. Yeah i've had 2 sti's. One modded with a cusco twin disc clutch, full race motor mounts and coilovers..to name a few of the many mods. It was just getting uncomfortable. Thats the ONLY reason i decided to go with an auto G with the paddle shifters. BTW the slush box is just a slush box with paddle shifters. Nothing special...shifts pretty slow also...

having an 06 STI, I was very disappointed in the seats and overall feel of the 08 STI. since you aren't coming from an STI, i'd say drive/sit in each car and see which one fits you best.

I feel I can answer this question pretty well. First off, I am a car enthusiast and have own many cars. I had an 2006 STI, traded it for a 2007 G35S sedan and am back to trying to sell my G35 for an 2008 STI. Here are my reasons. The 06 STI was the funniest car I have ever driven for short runs. At that time I was driving a lot , my daughter was on a comp. soccer team and every weekend we were traveling somewhere. Driving the STI was unbearable on long trips. So, I traded it in on the Infiniti. My daughter is now in college playing soccer, so no more long weekend trips.

The G35 is a great car, the G37, practically is the same car save it for the 3.7 liter and the extra 24 HP. It's a nice ride and a good looking car, however, it is no STI, really, what is? I have driven the new STI and they have fixed everything I have disliked in my 06. RWD vs AWD, AWD for me is the difference between night and day. I really love turbo's and the way the power rushes on, not to mention how easy they are to tune. I talked about the 06 STI as a monster car and it was in every respect, a pure raw performance car. The 08 STI is more refined, I have heard the term, grown up, and that's a great description. Name another car in the under 40K price range that can do what the STI can, other than the evo. You will be hard pressed to find a car in the 70K price range that will do the same. You put 2k in to it, stage 2, and you will be looking at a 100K car to match the performance of the STI.

I am always in search for that perfect car, I may never find it but it will be a great ride along the way and the 08 STI is next in line.
