Default Visibility Question

For those who have an '08 STI - how's the visibility while driving? I've sat in the '08 STI and the rear window seems fairly small so I'd like to know what it's actually like while driving (making head checks, parking, using the rear view mirror, etc).

being a taller guy, the seat is placed farther back than an average guy. shoulder checks are very easy. there are few blind spots. the back window is very good, and i find it easy to backup in comparison to other vehicles(07 accord, 99 integra, 05 EL). i find the design of the 08 STI to be easy to manover, and i only hesitate becouse im not 100% used to the fender flares, and scared of curbing the BBS rims. with only 1200km's on the ODO, im fairly new to driving it.

i can see clearly, the hydraulic seat elevator helps a lot for positioning your eyes in the middle of the window, the mirrors are very well positioned.

I have never thought about the visibility, so it must be fine. The lack of the wing in the rear is an improvement after coming from a previous gen STI. The rear window wiper is handy too.

I have 1600 miles on my car and think, overall, the visibility is quite good. The weather in Ohio has been pretty nasty for the last 3 weeks and, being a hatchback, the rear window gets dirty pretty quickly and needs to have the washer fluid used - to so-so effect - fairly often.

Visbility is excellent. My only complaint would be that I cant see the edge of the hood. Its pretty long but i've learned to deal with it. Just gotta remember that the end of the hood scoop = 15" away from the end of the bumper.

Coming out of a G35 with awful rear visibility, and driving Crown Vics and Impalas at work, the 08 is a glass bubble. In reality there are small blind spots at the C/D pillars but backing up is made easy by actually knowing where your rear bumper is.

My Sienna has better visibility, but the STI is not bad at all. I am 5' 7". Also, the STI is way better than an S2000.

Last edited by totsubo : 03-06-2008 at 05:13 AM. Reason: S2000 with top up... otherwise s2000 has no visibilty issues.

I concur. Compared to some of my other cars, it is very good. I never even think about it, so it is not something limiting in any way. Curbing the wheels is the biggest risk.

On a scale of 1-10, visibility for me is an 8. Pretty darn good all around. I'd prefer my right mirror to move down when I reversed like my 03 M3, but hey, we can't have everything, right? I may want to figure out a way to get a rearview cam going just for an extra "eye".

No complaints here...even though we don't have the "hydraulic seat elevators" (post #3) in the U.S. Those Canadians get all the goodies!
