I also clear bra the hood ,front bumper, front and rear fenders, the doors all the way up equal to the sti logo down the entire side of the car, front windsheild pillows, front part of roof, rear quarter panels, mirrors, area around door handles and of course the kick panels and flairs down the side....
Yea.. overboard but no scratches or chips so far...

Do you guys recommend putting on the clear bra if the car is a lease?

Do you guys know approximate cost of getting the bumper, whole hood and all fenders done? Would that pretty much protect the car from chips including the self-induced from my wheels.

I wouldn't. It's VERY unlikely you'll get dinged (no pun intended) for nicks in the paint during the normal course of driving.

It cost me $928 CDN, before taxes, to have my hood done past the scoop, full bumper, including mustache/Subaru logo, partial front fenders, entire rocker panels, side mirrors, partial rear 1/4 panel/rear door, and rear trunk lip.

Does it show?

How much protection is that? it's just protection from small chips, right?

You mean on the rear 1/4 panel? Since I have the mud flaps, I figured I didn't need to do the entire door panel. The installers didn't recommend either because they said you might be able to see a difference between the front and rear doors if you only covered the rear door.

Can you see it? From 5 ft away, no. From 2 ft, you can only see a faint edge and we're talking uber-thin. Once the car gets a bit more dirty, the edge of the rear fender piece is a bit more noticeable (but still virtually invisible from 5 ft away) but the rest of the film is still impossible to see. The bumper looks like it doesn't have the film at all!

I'll snap some pictures once the car is clean.

I shouldn't be surprised at how much more the clear bra shows up on a silver car since I had it on my Silverstone metallic S2000, but wow! I've taken pictures of my WRBP '08 STI in the sun and unless I am right on top of it at the right angle you can not see the clear bra lines on mine at all. Like I said, I should've known this was the case since it's nearly impossible to see the clear bra lines on my friends' S2000 (Berlina black) and Corvette (Le Mans blue). I'm not hating on the silver at all - just making an observation that the lines don't show up nearly as much on a darker color (in case people were worried about the lines being obvious). I myself much preferred the lines to paint chips!

i have every kit XPEL makes, plus custom work. the bra is hard to see when its clean. now, most of the time the STI isnt too clean, so the dirt reveals the lines. yes it is doing its job of keeping the rock chips off, becouse everythere the bra isnt covering, has rock chips or dents from rocks (front plastic pieces, and edge of hood, where the bra ends).

That's the problem with pre-cut kits, they don't wrap around the edges. I was forced to go with a custom kit due to how much the shops wanted to charge me for installing a pre-cut kit from the US. In hindsight, I'm so glad I got a custom job. I did order the pre-cut headlight film though. XPEL uses 3M film which, after seeing it, is great stuff.

I'm curious of the log term results. Meaning, due to the elements such as sand, salt, SUN, etc...Will the paint that is exposed fade at a faster rate than the covered part or vice/versa?
Also, with the paint chipping issues Subaru has already with the 08 body style (it is still in debate if it is faulty paint, or the way the debris flows down the body while driving hitting in front of the rear wheels constantly?) If it is the body style and not the paint, "will this type of covering look better or worse than the paint with hundreds of little nicks all in it"?
If you get a bad stone chip in the covering, will it get all ratty at the chip/tear?
Just had a few questions, that's all. I like what I see so far, just wondering how it will look in a couple of years.....
