I installed a SWI-PS. Similar to the jack though I think it just works with different aftermarket radios. I got the one specific for Pinoeers as I installed a D3. Works great so far.

Pics of mine with the subaru din panel mentioned above.

Just to confirm, the above Trim Panel is the AV Panel from this link:
Japanparts.com

Right?

That's the same setup I'm planning to run Tony... You purchased the AV Panel from JapanParts and the SWI-PS from some PAC dealer, right?

How much were both of those parts? (not including the d3)

My d3 is showing up this weekend and I'm not 100% sure if I should order the AV Panel from JapanParts

The dash panel was like 90 and the PAC SWC was 45 or so IIRC.

Much appreciated Tony, ordering now.

About how long did it take to receive your part from JapanParts?

It took them a little over a week to ship me (JWA) mine, but they sent it over night. I found a great deal on the PAC adapter on eBay.

Thanks Josh, I forgot all about eBay, lol... I'd rather buy there than some place called CarTrenz, which is the only PAC dealer in my area.

No problem. Crutchfield has them too, but they're full retail.

Guys - great installs! I have a question though. What did you use for brackets to mount the narrower head units? I ordered the Subaru Panel but I'm assuming I'll need different brackets on my new headunit and din pocket to mount them.

thanks,

Paul

The stock brackets worked for my AVIC-D3 because the OEM head unit is only wider on the front. It narrows to a standard width where the brackets mount.

Do any of the aftermarket head units use the same satin black finish like the OEM?

Blaupunkt used to sell plastic like that.. are they still in business?!?!

Most of the higher end brands adopt the shiny plastic these days.

Some of the Becker units are a satin finish, as well as the Blaupunkts mentioned above.

Could any one that has installed a PAC Controller on their 08 STI do a little write up?

Im just wondering is it going to be an easy one or two wire deal or some crazy hard thing to do. Just purchased an AVN6620 and was just deciding whether its worth getting the PAC unit.
