Default Where would you put gauges???

So after getting tuned I really want some gauges to keep an eye on things. Problem is there is not really a good spot in the 08. Can't use the A pillar as there is an air bag. Clock pod wouldn't really work like before without some imaginative integration. A gauge bezel might work, but I am not crazy about them and would like to have three gauges total.

I want to avoid having gauges installed such that they look stuck on. I hate that. I also don't want a ton of gauges horribly visible as I don't like the look.

What do you think guys? Anyone have any good ideas?

Tony

I know you mentioned it but I tend to like the autometer bezel style and an additional single pod that would sit up on the dash next to the a-pillar if three are needed, like this one . All three guages would be fairly low key.

The bezel does not put the gauges in line of sight too well. The headliner may work, but that would be a lot of work to make look good. Glove box is out for line of sight reasons.

I will look into the zeitronics display. I have a graphical PSI3 data monitor in my 04 wrx that I love as it clearly and easily displays the info I want, but there is no good place to put it in the 08.

Tom, you get your car yet????

What about switching to a single-DIN radio and then using a single-DIN gauge mount under or above it? There's a JDM factory dash panel that is made for an actual double-DIN size opening versus the wider opening of the stock panel.

They also have a single-DIN guage cluster in the JDM accessories brochure if you want to see what it might look like.

if properly designed, one or two gauges on top of either side of the instrument cluster should work. not like "gauges on a stick" just poking out of it, but a nicely molded pod on either side that flows and follows the lines of the dash.

if nobody understands me, i'll try do sketch something out tonight

Need to convince someone to hack the Nav system and get what we want on the "info" screen... The MPG and Throttle percent displays are useless and only scare my wife.

Last pic in this thread: http://www.iwsti.com/forums/2008-sti...ete-build.html

you can see they put the boost gauge on the steering column, looks pretty clean to me.

Like this??

This is a RHD JDM piece that I'm hoping someone will make for LHD ?? Hello out there, Gruppe-S?? Someone?

My other thought is a Subygal style pod or the JDM STI setup

For having offered a stock gauge pod in the past, they really didn't leave many options at all for the new 08.
