I have used the V.2 and was VERY pleased with it. You'll find from many others on here that they are too.

I have had one of the original V1's (pre ordered before they were released in 04) and a V2 for my 08sti and have liked both. The V2 is a great unit, reflashes quickly, allows you to get data from your car, comes in a slick package and allows the tuner more adjustability with maps as I has greater storage capacity. I really like it.

I've had one for my 05 WRX and my 06 WRX. I sold the 06 model once I found out about OpenECU, but the AP is certainly easier and more dummy proof than the free reflashing tools (which aren't compatible with the 08s yet anyway). Go for it.

I had an AP 2.0 for my 02 WRX and it was very simple to install and use. Very noticeable power for little cost and effort. I also had over 100k (HARD) miles on my old WRX and NEVER had any problems with it.

VERY easy to install with power gains you can feel, all for about 7 bills. Can't beat it.

When you reflash with the AP, can you give me a littel feel for how the power comes in differently? Does the torque come in at the same places, but stronger, or does it broaden the range that the torque comes in? I'm asking because I think the place power comes in on the STI is a little narrow. I find that I have to shift early because it seems flat in higher revs and the middle section of the RPM flies by so fast that it feels like I have to shift too quickly. Its alsmost like this car would do with a extra tooth or two on the gears. BTW, I guess I'm only referring to first and second gear, the rest dont bother me too much.

I had a V2 for my '05 and had stage 1 OTS, stage 2 OTS, and stage 2 Protune on the car. Great little unit and very easy to use. Now that the product is more mature, it's definitely a great buy. The AP will give you a broader powerband by increasing timing and boost. The biggest gains come from going stage 2.

As for the gearing, they already made it longer for '07-'08. If you think it is short now, you should try out an '04-'06.

Just got back from my first drive after flashing my ECU with the Cobb Stage 1 map.

I am very impressed. The power comes on so much smoother and my 1st/2nd gear shifts are way more predictable. I only drove it for about 15 minutes and no highway time yet, so I haven't really gotten the feel for all the tweaks, but the initial results make me very excited. The 25 miles to work tomorrow should give me a much better sense of the map.
