I don't know, the jury is still out on that I think. The hood on my '08 is pretty damn light and Subaru does state "Aluminum alloy" on their website under "Features". Someone should weigh one.

Subaru.com doesn't list the hood as aluminum alloy but Subaru.ca does:
Subaru Canada - WRX STI - Specifications

Headlights: Contoured multi-reflector halogen (high beam)
Headlights: Projector beam Xenon High Intensity Discharge (HID) (low beam) with manual levelizer
Hood: Aluminum alloy with gas strut support

Maybe we get a little extra loving like the heated seats and mirrors. Hehe...or it's a misprint.

Or, five seconds with a magnet and you'd know...

Also, there is a Hydraulic test of the Traction control system that happens at startup. The manual talks about, but who reads those....

By the way, please do not start any more threads of little things that if not for the threads, we would have never noticed them (rear view mirror to low, hood viberating, etc).
You have your own spelling error in this post. I leave finding it as an exercise for you. It seems like half the spelling correction posts on the internet have mistakes in them. That's weird.

I can't wait to buy my STI and experience some floppy high speed hood action.

Please tell me, English is my second language and now I feel like an idiot. I did not mean no disrespect, I know that it was a digital error, not a spelling error. I was just having fun.
Btw, mine is aluminium.

You used 'to' instead of 'too' - "mirror to low". And for what it's worth, you write English better than most native speakers, so no need to feel like an idiot

Must be a misprint on the SCI site because I just tried a fridge magnet and it stuck. Has anyone tried sticking one on an '05? I thought I did that with mine and it stuck too, even though I know it was supposed to be aluminum...but it's been so long I can't remember.

There is definitely some weight to shed in the hood then if it's steel.

those of you who are spelling and grammar nazi's...cool it...if you know what the member intended then let it be...you're not getting any cool points for it...and eventually the mods will say something about it (and yes they have).

Are you trying to undermine the foundation of the internets?!?! If there were no grammar pirates we'd all be saying stuff like "They went over their too look at you're viberating hood, there happy too know your trying too fix it."

If this were to happen repeatedly everyone's head would explode and nobody would be left to post. If there is nobody left to post, then the moderators (assuming their heads didn't also explode) would have to find something else to do. The only other thing in the world to do other than moderate (once everyone's head explodes) would be to drink heavily in despair due to loneliness. Then they would all go out in their Subarus and have a giant drunken destruction derby in the streets. It would be MADNESS!!!

Good point man. I never thought of it this way. Besides, there was only ONE grammar nazi, and once his own bad grammar was corrected we moved on.
