If you want to protect the car get a clear bra custom cut to cover the rear quarter panel by the fender flare

I know Rally Armor is working mudflaps that will fit the 08 STI. These should greatly help keep crap off our cars.

If it hasn't happened yet, it will. I have a 1000 miles on mine and though not chipped excessively it has left the finish dented and rough. In the southern climes your less apt to run into gravel and salt layed down during winter freezes. I'm going to be contacting SOA this week to ensure that this issue is taken care of. 1 month old and needs to have the paint touched up. Not a very happy camper.

600 miles on my DGM and I'm starting to see it. The grey (and I would expect black) seem to be particularly affected, probably because the white primer shows up so much. I currently have about 8-9 period sized white specks on the rear door. The dealer is seeing it tomorrow; I installed a custom cut of Xpel to prevent it from getting worse.

Car has never seen gravel, but I'm on Long Island so there is sand everywhere.

Do you all buy this xpel film through xpel or where do you purchase it? How hard is it to apply? I imagine it is sorta like applying a screen protector to your cell phone, but much harder since you are fighting gravity and dealing with something much larger. For the most part how difficult is it and what solution do you use?

Thanks,
Jared

so it seems like the paint hasn't gotten that much better than before? Subaru paint is notoriously bad on the 04-07 STIs. Mabye its still bad on the 08s.

Correct, but not only is the paint still very thin...there is a flaw in the design that allows a lot of road debris to fling up all over the sides of the car.
