This piece was shaped around the badge surround, so I don't think it would work with the sport grill. That being said, if you can find some mesh you like somewhere I don't think it would be hard at all to just use the OEM piece as a pattern, cut a new one, and paint it. All it would take is some tin snips.

I think I'm gonna pull the fog lights and paint those black as well :P

Yeah, I was more interested in the lower grill, but concerned that it would look funny with the grills having different patterns.

Grillcraft sells universal grill material. Get a piece bigger than your grill, call them up, order the lower, and then tell them you want a piece of that same mesh.

Dude can you be more specific what you did with those tabs? I have been going at them from every angle for the past 20 minutes and cant get anything to budge. What kind of clip am I dealing with here?

In addition to the push clips on the top, you have to unscrew four screws which fasten the bottom edge of the grill to the bumper cover. I was able to to this with a very stubby phillips head and by squeezing my arms through the space created by removing the push clips holding the grille to the bumper cover.

Yeah I got those out... First I took out the 4 pop up plastic mounts from across the top, then from the bottom I was able to unscrew the 4 screws. Just to make sure I got the right screws out (since I am working blind) they are short maybe 1/2 inch phillips head screws with a pointed tip and rounded head? Two just beneath the lip of the grill on either side of center and two up in the corners? After doing this the grill has some play to it in all directions but I cant see what I am doing to remove those two clips circled in the first picture.

Try to stick your arm in the space between where you unclipped the top and find the end of the tabs which seem to be stuck. Try pushing the tabs out toward the front of the car. That may jar them loose since it seems you have all the fasteners & screws out.

Got it!

One of the clips had a defect, there was a little extra extruded plastic still attached to it. I had one side and I knew this shouldn't be that hard so I just shoved it. I heard a crack and thought I broke something, but then realized that that little stupid drip of plastic was what kept me here for an hour!

That sucks, but glad you got it out! I pretty much had to force mine also, but after looking at it I could see no other way to make it come loose. Post the results of your install too.

I think that the biggest design flaw on the 08 is the front grill, specifically that awful silver strip across the top. I wanted to see if it would look OK by simply removing that piece, but it doesn't work. The stuf underneith that piece is gross looking too. So, since on the master list of mods a JDM grill is no where near the top, I decided to paint that silver trim. Right now its drying on the floor and it looks pretty decent. Pics coming as soon as I get it back on the car.
