sirius?

I don't have the nav package and was wondering if it is possible for the radio to be hooked up to sirius satellite. According to the brochure that I got from the dealer you can only get sirius if you have the nav package. Otherwise you only have the XM option. Is this true or is there a way around this other than buying another head unit?

I misread the brochure the same way as you did. It doesn't say that the part is only compatible with the Nav, it says it is standard with the Nav. You CAN hook up the Sirius tuner to your stock radio. I was about to go down that route until I found a proper factory DIN-sized surround so that I can install my Alpine deck with the Sirius tuner.

SubaruGenuineParts.com has the Sirius tuner for ~$375. SubaruPartsMall.com has it for $310, but their site was trying to charge me 10% sales tax and they didn't answer any calls about why.

You should be able to add either XM or Sirius to the non-nav headunit.

SUBARU.COM : MODEL OVERVIEW : 2008 Impreza WRX STI
Standard Features: ...XM® or SIRIUS™ satellite radio capability
"Sirius Satellite Radio... Available on all Subaru models and trims."

There is a lot of confusion over which options work with which headunit.
