Bump as episode is running this week. Check the website for possible video. Quarter mile times 14.1, 0-60 5.4 (ish), they loved the fell of the car on track. Comparison to EVO X was dropped.

Isn't a 14.1 sec 1/4 mile in an STI horrible...?

Another somewhat disappointing review of the '08 STi.

MotorWeek: Road Test

Besides the usual comments on the different look and slightly slower straight-line performance numbers, they said:

Has anyone made any shifter or brake-pedal-feel improvements in their '08 STi? Does anyone even share the same complaints? (I had read that the new brake lines used in the 2008 were a real improvement over the previous years', so much so that braided brake lines weren't a necessary upgrade; maybe that has nothing to do with ABS feel...)

I'm guessing the 5.4 run to 60 was kind to the transmission and more like what I would probably see on the street; every sub-5 second reviewer notes how much they had to abuse the clutch to make the car go without bogging-down. (For contrast, Car & Driver claimed a 5-60 street-start of a slow 6.9 seconds.) I wish they all would state their launch-rules up front.

Anyone that gets 6.9 from 5-60 in a STI is doing something wrong. For example, here is an old video (and really crappy camera/compression) of my '05 when it was stock (cdn model - 3315lbs curb weight) - street start...0-62 in about 5.5 seconds or so:

You also don't need a massively abusive launch to get a sub-5 second 0-60. A firm quick-slip from 5K-5.5K usually does the job as long as you don't bog it (which dropping the clutch can do.)
