Default Some impressions from people who goes from 07 STi to 08 Sti plz?!

I have 07 Sti and i am very interested in what amount it is different from 08 Sti while driving it.I guess that the other 07 STi owners would like to hear that too.How does it feel in the corners, accelerations, braking, steering, going over bumps...write anything that you consider is worth mentioning and that is different from 07...thnx

At this point it's going to be rare to find an '07 owner that has enough curiosity or disposable income to be tempted to step into an '08 and drive it long enough to tease out the details. Give it a couple months.

I can only add to what others have said about the 08. The thing that I love about the 08 is the ride, it's so much more tame/smooth. More room in cabin for both passenger and driver; not so much for the trunk. There is just not enough there to tempt me to trade...
I hate the hood from the drivers POV seems to be in the way. Cheap plastic on the door cards. It also seemed slower but maybe that's cuz it's stock and I can not remember what mine was like back then. I prefer the seats in the 07 the 08s don't feel as supportive to me...etc
Best thing to do is go and see what you think for yourself, we/I can tell you our impressions all day and you may think something else.

I know it is rare to find people who allready switched from 07 to 08 but there must be some people who tried it a little bit. There must be something that they like more or less when compared with 07

Exactly. Just my thought also. This is performance car. Why have the cushy ride?? I like the stiff ride of my 07.

The "cushy" ride has almost nothing to do with the levels of grip this thing has available. Why do you think the RB320 or other European tuned coilover systems are so popular without rattling your teeth out? They make these cars stick like glue where the stock suspension would skitter around nervously. A car can have a compliant suspension and still be sporty, BMW has been doing that for years.

I've got an 07 and have put a deposit down on a factory-order 08, which is supposed to arrive about mid-February. The initial plan was to keep the 07 for a while so I could quantify, at the track, the differences between the two cars, or keep the 07 forever because it's the last of the good-looking ones.

But I'm very seriously reconsidering right now and may instead go for something completely different. Perhaps even an 06 M5. The jury is out on this decision and will be gone a long time.

If I do go for the 08, I'll be sure to post all the comparison results once track season starts up.

My expectation is that the 08 will be a slightly faster car. Talking road course here.

I'm wondering if they changed the brake pad compound on the 08 because the dealership told me that, new for 08, even brake pads will be covered under warranty. The OEM pads for the 07 are worthless and I doubt they'd last the warranty period for street driving. I experienced huge fade and very useless braking power with them and used them up inside of a day at the track.

I use Raybestos ST43's on the 07 but am not hopeful that they'll fit the 08, so it might be a while before I can do an apples/apples comparison since it takes Porterfield a while to do up a new brake pad pattern.

i'm considering test driving an 08 - i have an 07, but after seeing the interior of the 08 and the possiblity of being able to put my BMX bike in the rear hatch area (do the rear seats fold?), i'm curious.

Yep the rear seats fold. A BMX bike would not be a problem at all.

I wish more people understood this...I didn't believe it myself, initially, but it is true.

That's really odd. I have 2 track days under my belt with my '07 on stock pads. Didn't experience any fade at all, and they have *plenty* of life left after 8k miles of very spirited driving.

Best of luck with the '08 and please do let us know how you like it.

I have an '07, I have had it for 10 months already, I see no reason in trading up to an '08. There's just not enough difference for me to be like ok this is a significant leap in progress.

The next step for me is probably going back to my BMW roots with an e92 m3 in 2 years or so.

The only reason to upgrade is the possibility of putting 10" rims under it with little modificiation and a hatchback utility. Other than than that...why upgrade...cushy suspension???...screw that...
