Our local dealer has a reputation for being "mod" friendly. Their deal is that they must install whatever you are doing and get the OK from the service tech/service manager. They've sold Cobb'd out cars before right off the showroom floor. I'm lucky to have such a dealer nearby, biggest one in these parts too.

To the OP. That is enough power for me, I don't think Stage 2 would be necessary. All Stage 2 is going to do is take away some of that great MPG that you gained.

Heck yeah, stage 2 happened about three weeks after I bought the car . But before I did it, I budgeted for the engine repair. I haven't had any problems so far (and it's been 40K miles), but if it happens I'm ready.

The beauty of a STI is that the engine is relatively inexpensive to repair. At this point I've got three times as much money in the toys as I expect to spend when I finally blow up the motor .

Like I said, just make sure you get it on paper. My guess is they won't do that for you, because that's tantamount to admitting they commit warranty fraud.

FWIW, in my opinion letting the dealer lie for you is equivalent to doing it yourself.

That is currently in the R&D stage, we will do a announcement when the AP for the STi is ready. AP is ready, its just that the maps need to be tested.

and this amazed you, why?
stg2 sti's have been able to do exactly this, whenever you want, since 04........

good to hear the tunes are coming along though.. by the time i get an 08 in the next couple of months, it seems many should be dialed.. along with exhausts, coilover choices.. etc...
enjoy. any updated pics of your silver?

Well It is only a case of Morals, IF you know the damage was caused by a modification, and you, willingly try to pass it off like it was not/

IF you have an AP or DP or whatever, and your Subaru starts running poorly, it could be caused by any number of things...

Agreed however; if you are planning to race the car and Abuse it, you better be able to pay for repairs!

TrevorO,

Am I to understand that you will gain another 50ft/lbs of torque at the wheels by going stage 2?

I think you should do it! 250ft/lbs to 299ft/lbs from stock. 299ft/lbs to 355 ft/lbsfrom stage 1 to stage 2 = No brainer!

Do it, and get back to us with pics of power induced slides!

No. I'm not excited anymore now that I know that stage 2 STI's have always been able to do that. It just isn't special now.

Thats some great numbers for just a tune on a stock car. I made 310wtq/270whp on PDX's dyno on a ots cobb stage 2 map so I bet you'll see some really good numbers with atleast a downpipe!

Can anyone give me some total newbie advice on what to look for in tuning programs and shops, and maybe recommend some? If there are good references that I should be looking at, please point them out.

I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area, so PDX isn't really in the neighborhood

Thanks,

Jay

I'm also a BA newbie and have been doing some research. I think GST Motorsports is the place to go in the BA.
