I'm still waiting on my 08, so I can't give you personal experience, but do a search and you'll find that you're not the only one with that problem. iPhone and iPod touch have problems with the iPod interface in the 08 STI, and I think I remember possibly some less serious issues with the iPod Classic as well (not turning off).

I suspect the cause is the same problem a lot of 3rd-party iPod dock makers are finding as well (and I had this happen with my Onkyo dock and iPod Classic) -- if the 3rd-party didn't pay Apple to license the interface and just reverse-engineered the cable pinout to save $$$, they didn't know that Apple changed the interface somewhat with the latest-gen devices, and the older reverse-engineered cables won't work. For my Classic and the Onkyo dock (which would pass through audio okay but not video) I ended up just buying the Apple cable, which works fine. No doubt 3rd-party "next-gen" cables and docks will be available soon, but in the meantime, you may be out of luck -- at least one person has managed to get a refund from Subaru. Good luck with it, and post what you find out!

Default Another mounting suggestion

Here's another suggestion for mounting the mic. I like this the best, tucked under the top of the plastic surround of the combination meter. Very easy to place here, just a bit of double sided tape.

Same as the iPhone, your only option is to enter the contact manually. Unless there is a third party application for sending contacts over bluetooth. I've not found anything like that yet for the iphone.

you can do that. when a composit connection is plugged into the port in the arm rest, stepping through MODES brings up AUX as an option. unplug from the arm rest port and AUX is not there any more. if you unplug the MP3 but leave the cable plugged in, you still see AUX (and have to step past it).

thanks. I was afraid of that. I found the nav volume has to be at 2 or 1 to avoid annoying echo to the person on the other line.

Does anyone have some pics they can post of the DVD ground short? I'd like to see some detail pics of how that was done, or has anyone had any luck making an adaptor plug to ground it without splicing into the grey wire?

Thanks
