Burned with nero, insert into the MAP dvd slot, and it does the rest. After it finishes it will display an error saying disc not a map disc. At that point just eject it, put in your map disc and then go to check the version info in the Menu. Should read 6300.
Anybody else that wants it just PM, I can NOT make this link public, I have it monitored and will remove it if it gets shared too much.
Thanks! I finished the DL and have loaded it on my Navi. It reads 6300. No mic yet, but expect it to be delivered in the next few weeks. BTW, SubaruWRXParts.com just added my STI to their Customer Cars link... anyway. THANKS!!!

Ok, so what changes have you guys noticed. One problem I have right now is that when playing a DVD it stutters to the point of being unplayable. It might have been the particular DVD but it was clean and I don't have problems with it on any other player.

I haven't performed the bypass yet but the way I plan on doing it is I've ordered both sides of the connector that plugs into the back of the Nav. I'll make a little adapter harness that will ground out the appropriate wire. This way I don't disturbe the factory wiring at all.

We'll see how it works. Hopefully my harnesses will be here this week.

The update just effects the bluetooth, more specifically the speed dial. I have not noticed any issues with the update, dvd's still play smoothly as does the video from the rca in via the center console...

I cant speak for which features are disabled while driving as I did the bypass by grounding the wire to the navi shell. (Search the forum for photos of the correct wire and grounding location). However the speed dial feature and phonebook (see below) seem to work just fine.

Sound quality near as I can tell is ok, but not perfect, people hear me fine but the voice sounds a little muffled through the car speakers.

For anybody with a windows mobile based phone and want the contacts to sync via bluetooth with the car
BE SURE TO SYNC YOUR PHONE WITH OUTLOOK OR MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR CONTACTS. I didnt have any problems but its just good practice...
Download this program (Free 30 day trial that is fully functional)
JETware Mobile Software

install it on the phone, run it from the programs menu and then when you get to the point of sending the phonebook to the car change encoding from UTF-8 to 8-bit, and it'll sync up great. (UTF-8 downloads the names incorrectly).
One limitation to our navi is only 2 numbers can be stored per name, I havent figured out how it decides which two numbers to save in the car, but if you have any important contacts with more than 2 numbers you may want to verify them after downloading.
This program also is confirmed to work with my brothers Infinity G35x, so I'm assuming it will work with many other in car bluetooth devices.

I just installed the update to 6300. Super simple and fixed both major problems I had with the system.

First, before the update my Cars DVD would stutter during playback, now it's smooth.

Second, when entering an address with a house number that doesn't exist in the database the system would just stop. You could go back to another menu, but couldn't enter anything more in the destination screen. Now it comes up with an error after a few seconds notifying you what the problem was.

I haven't explored the whole system yet but I figured those two fixes were major enough to warrant a mention.

Well, I made a bonehead mistake. I ass*umed that the connector that needed modified for the nav bypass was the main stereo harness. Now that I think about it that was a pretty poor assumption. Anyway, my plan to make a plug and play bypass harness is in the toilet. Oh well, time to think up plan B

Where did you guys put your Mic's, I hated the stock location so I did mine under the cluster and pointed the Mic at me. If the wipers are not on you can not see the Mic. So far no one has a trouble hearing me.

I put mine on top of the steering column but am thinking of moving it to the top of the a-pillar. That's where I have it on my other car and it's working great.

Please no screaming...

How easy is it to install the bluetooth and subwoofer accessories? Anybody do both? Any gotchas? I was going to have the dealer do it but UPS screwed up and now I had to cancel with no clue when to reschedule.
