Dont want to hijack but, its really easy as shown from this techdoc

I was bummed to find out that the antenna mast on the roof does not have a sat radio antenna built in, so you have to use their big obnoxious antenna that comes with the kit.
However I found that putting the antenna in the center (on the black spotted part of the windshield) instead of the passenger side hid it pretty well. My signal is very strong, and even works in my garage.

Any time you have to take out the dash to install the microphone, they are going to charge you more than an hour worth of work. MOREOVER, most dealers don't do interior work like audio/bluetooth etc., they hire an outside contractor.
You dont have to take out the dash, just the radio bezel and radio, like I had said earlier (or in a different thread perhaps) there is plenty of room behind the radio and under the steering column to reach up and fish the wires around.

Yeah, my dealership said it was available yesterday but at the time they checked only 6 were in stock.

I installed the Sub myself 2 weeks ago... Was very very easy. The directions come with the Sub and as long as you have the right tools it shouldn't take more than an hour to install. I used a soft plastic spatula to ensure I didn't scratch the interior plastics while popping pieces off.

How does the sub get its signal? Does it splice into the rear speaker leads or does it connect to a dedicated sub output on the back of the nav unit? Also, can you control the gain of the sub using the menu in the nav system? Thanks.

There is a dedicated Sub port on the back of the Nav unit (I am sure the same is true for the base stereo).

Yes, once you enable the Subwoofer within the sound system setup you're able to control the gain. I set the manual controls on the Sub to max gain and very low cutoff.

There is also the ability to enable a center speaker... I enabled this and the system became even fuller... Not sure what that is all about, but my wife noticed it as well.

With the Nav out I noticed a "Clarion" sticker stuck to the bottom of what I thought was the indash clock/mpg... I thought Clarion just made stereo's and speakers. If that is the case it might stand to reason that what I believed was the clock/mpg is actual a center speaker. I don't know so I guess this is more of a question.

Look what I found. There is an installation manual on this page:

Free Publications > Accessory Installation Guides

On that page, search for the part number (H630SFG000)

The manual depicts a harness that plugs inline with the existing navi harness, not via a dedicated port...

I don't get it, was the back of your head unit different than the link shows?

I appreciate your help. I want to be as well-informed as possible when I go have the dealer look at it Tuesday.

Drrrrr... Yeah you're correct that it is a harness that goes in-line with the existing harness. I wasn't thinking but it came with two such harnesses, one for the Nav and the other for the stock stereo. Either way I can still control the gain through the Nav unit... Not sure if it makes a difference if it had a dedicated port or not, but what they have setup seems to work.

Sorry for the confusion!

I just had my nav out tonight, the Clarion sticker was actually on the bottom of the Sirus unit. here in Canada the Sirus Satelite radio is standard and it is was on the bottom of this as far as I could tell.

Since I'm not sure that I have the same head unit as you guys do in the States, I was wondering if someone who had their unit out could tell me the model number on the back? I ask this because i would like to buy the Sub and install it, but it is not listed here, by Subaru Canada, as a possible acessesory, so I'm not sure if it will hook up to my navi or not, but if we do have the same model of navi then I should be able to buy it in the states and hook it up.....

Thanks very much

Mine is supposed to be ordered. I should have it early next week since the dealer I ordered from isn't local and they have to get it first then ship to me.

I'm bummed. Last night I got under the seat and I realized my sub actually _is_ working... It's just so weak that I thought it was off! Sad... Well, mine still does not respond at all to changes made to the sub settings on the nav unit itself, but of course there are gain and high-pass knobs on the sub itself. I cranked them as much as I could without distrotion, which frankly, isn't much.

StiCalgary - dude don't waste your time with that sub. Not only is it super weak, but also it connects inline with the rear speaker leads anyway, so there isn't even an advantage as far as integration with the head unit. For the same money you can buy a mich nicer under-the-seat model. I feel like I just threw away a couple hundred bucks.

mine was installed yesterday. I had a 20% off coupon for accessories that came in the mail so i used that for $40 off the 200. Install is easy. Works really well. You just have to put your phone in discoverable mode and enter the pin that the car gives you into your phone. What i particularly like is the fact that the car identifies my phone whenever i get in without any intervention from me. A little bluetooth symbol shows up on the nav unit and even shows my telephone's battery charge. Voice quality is excellent. The people on the other end say i sound clear although a little speaker-phone-ish.

regarding the sub, i have a question about the plugs on the back of the nav unit for audio. i noticed there are 2 kinds of plugs, the old style and the new style. Are both active? Are the voltage outputs different?

What phone do you have? I should be able to install it tonight and I'll be using it with an iphone. I have a Parrot kit in my other car and it works seamlessly. I'm hoping for similar with this.
