Default Three way shootout EVO vs STI on Edmunds

Comparison Test: Mitsubishi Evo GSR vs. Mitsubishi Evo MR vs. 2008 Subaru WRX STI.*

EVO came out in first place again.

All I heard was STI "LIGHTER And FASTER" lol

As for handling, I guess it comes down to what you want the car for, \

and if you are use to AWD with torq!

This was with the EVO MR that hadn't had the SST fixed yet. Imagine what wil happen after they fix/re-calibrate the SST?

I'm surprised that the 08 STI came out last.

THey added an EVO IX MR to the test and it came out on top in terms of lap speed. I'm curious where an 06 STI would place. Perhaps on top of all the new comers, but right behind the IX MR?

The Evo X MR, top of the line model with SST, barely edged out the STI around the track. Considering they claimed the STI understeered so badly, it's funny that it was only .17-.26 seconds off the pace around the track. It also trounced the Evo X in 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. It beat the MR's slalom speed and was slightly slower than the GSR's speed.

Just like always, these cars are so closely matched, I wouldn't exactly call it a "win". I still maintain a tire change could fix any so-called "understeer".

IIRC the sti, when tested alone, did the slalom at 72mph.

.99gs is impressive for the evos though

I don't understand why subie can't get the Understeer fixed! even with 200lb more the evo is faster at the track.

Dude they didn't touch the DCCD though they left it on auto if it had atleast been on auto (-) I bet it would have done better.

its minor numbers on the street and depending on mods that are to come and driver experience...

another deciding point here is where your affiliation lies... I like Evos but I will always be loyal to Subarus

Because Subaru lets it's lawyers pick the alignment settings. They dial in so much neg rear camber to keep the car from being tail happy. This is a fast car, and Subaru wants to keep the average Joe from wrecking on the street.

With a better alignment (more neg camber up front, less in the rear) the car would be much much more neutral.

Its the same story as before, depends on which rag is testing the cars as to which one come out on top. I've already seen two different articles which eek out the STi over the EVO. What does it all mean, nothing.

Which track youre at, which car youre driving are all so close it doesn't matter.

I love the new look of the STI. Also, I am glad that the STI has a true manual. This is why I'm going to purchase a 2009 STI,

Anyone know what tires/size are used on thes EVO cars?
I know the STI uses 245/40-18 Dunlop SP Sport 600 Summer Tires.
