Default Canadian STI MSRP

You guys seen this yet?

Canadian STI MSRP Finally Released!! - News & Rumors - NASIOC

Quote:
Subject: WRX STI Pricing

Good afternoon,

We’re please to announce that the 2008 Impreza WRX STI pricing has been finalized and approved.

Please take note of this important schedule:
·Pricing memo will be sent in dealer mail Monday January 14, will arrive to dealers on Tuesday January 15
·Official pricing announcement to the public will be at the Montreal Auto Show, Thursday Jan 17 at 14:00
·Cars will be released early next week

With all the of new features along with enhanced driving dynamics and refinement, the new STI is really so much more car than it’s predecessor. Take for example just some of the improvements over the last model:
  • A 12 horsepower increase to 305HP and 290 lb-ft of torque now available lower in the rpm range
  • New Multi-mode Driver Controlled Centre Differential (DCCD)
  • New Multi-mode Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) system and Traction Control System (TCS)
  • GPS DVD-based navigation system and monitor system with colour touch-screen display
  • Front dash integrated DVD entertainment system with 7” tilt adjustable screen and digital sound technologies
  • SIRIUS® Satellite Radio (Free 3 month trial)
We think the STI will be a great competitor against other sports cars and a great value: We’ve reduced MSRP by $4000 compared to last year’s model! The MSRP for the 2008 STI will be $44,995.00

Best Regards,
If that MSRP is correct, price with freight PDI and A/C should be $46590 before taxes.

Just did a quick comparison to the US car.

The equivalent US car for import, MSRP $39,440 + 6.1% duty = $41845 + A/C tax and RIV fee $295 = $42140. The same US car at invoice = $39745 total.

Price difference after taxes (GST+7%PST) =
$52180CDN - $47197US = $4983.

If you pay invoice, (common in the US, difficult in Canada) the saving become, $52180CDN - $44514.4US = $7666.

Hmmm.

Dear Subaru Dealer

Re: change of warranty reimbursement for Canadian citizens purchasing a Subaru

Subaru of America (SoA) has formalized a reciprocal warranty agreement with Subaru Canada Inc (SCI). There are important elements to this agreement which have changed that will impact the procedure for certain warranty claim reimbursements.

Procedure Change

If a Canadian citizen purchases a Subaru vehicle in the US with the intention of immediately registering the vehicle in Canada, they must be notified by the selling dealer that the Subaru Limited warranty specifically states, "Any and all repairs must be performed by an authorized Subaru Dealer in the United States." Therefore, Canadian residents who purchase a Subaru in the US, then registers the vehicle in Canada, will have 2 viable options for obtaining warranty repairs.

1. return the car to the US for all warranty repairs at an authorized Subaru dealer at no charge, or

2. Have the car repaired at an authorized Canadian Subaru dealer, pay for the repairs, then submit a copy of the repair order marked "Paid" for reimbursement to SoA through the CDS (customer dealer services), address Subaru of America, Inc, Subaru Plaza, PO Box 6000, Cherry Hill, New Jersey, 08034-6000, USA, phone 800 SUBARU3.

You're right, it was. I was quoted less than that for a 2008.

Yup, in about 15 years if the prices continue to increase at the same rate.
