Default Subaru having problems?

No serious financial problem or anything like that...

But...

I went to the Subaru dealer today and spoke to the sales manager, which informed me earlier that my new STI will be delayed for about a month. Well he had more news, and not that very exciting.

He said Subaru´s suppliers of Recaro seats and BBS wheels are having more problems that it seemed in the beginning.

First news of the year was: My STI was supposed to arrive in late february but now pushed back to late march, due to this lack of goodies problem. The reason for this is more orders than Subaru and the suppliers had thought of.

Well, today comes the big boom, headshot. He informed me that Subaru had contacted them again, stating that my fully loaded STI will be in early february production, meaning that it won´t make it here until very late march, probably april or may.

What struck me was the next piece of information: Subaru are NOT taking more orders of Recaro/BBS package for an undisclosed time because they simply can not meet up with those orders. What must sting some hopeful fully loaded owners, who recently ordered theirs, is that Subaru is cancelling their orders! They will have to order later if they want the Recaro/BBS package!

This made me hugely nervous but the sales manager told me that my "Spec.R" is still on the order list, since I ordered it so early on.. and well, since I have bought so many new Subarus

However, mine will be the only one here for quite a while. Looks like Subaru are selling more of those fully loadeds than they anticipated. This is bad news for those who had ordered and will have to see their order cancelled but also good news because it tells us that the STI is selling (ordering) like hot muffins.

But I went home wondering: Is this true or is this just a way to excuse a delay in delivery? Anyone else here heard of this?

That's terrible man, sorry to hear. I remember reading a thread on here that said Subaru only made a certain amount of STis, very low amount, not sure if it was true or not. It seems really ****ty that they'd do this to you now, and if it is just an excuse to stall for time, it's bs.

Well I'd say to just buy some wheels on your own, probably cheaper too but........seats too, guess you have to wait.

I've seen this happen with Nav models. MFR thinks that they'll sell mostly non nav models when in actuality most people want the nav. They lose $ because of it, as well as their supplier because someone guessed wrong.

Sorry to hear that, hopefully for myself it's more of a Recaro problem than a BBS problem! Good luck.

You won't find Recaros with airbags in them for cheaper than what you get with the factory optioned model.

North America has a ton of STIs coming in with BBS wheels, so perhaps it is just a Recaro issue?

You can go and buy this car right now. All you have to do is pay MSRP, fly out to the west coast and drive one home. And i know for almost a fact that there are a couple right now sitting on some dealers lot.

Yeah I think this is a Recaro problem. Lots of BBS wheels out there already.

Cant have your cake and eat it too.

When I placed the order, I wanted a Red. After I heard about the backorder I got pushed back, but convinced the dealer to sell me the same thing he had on the lot in just a diff. color. for the same price.

You have to give some where to get it. Eather you wait for several months, or you get what is available.
I got what was available, and have been enjoying it for 7 days now
