The quad exhaust looks like it might pose a small challenge for an aftermarket exhaust options, but the potential is still there.

The fact that this car has so many pluses going for it, I think I'll survive any minor issues that come with the first model year of a new car. The only reason to wait for an MY09, in my opinion, is that we might see Recaros, the push-start button, and other minor improvements (maybe a small power increase.) I can't wait for Subaru of Canada to announce pricing for the new STI. I wish they would get on with it...
my thoughts Exactly...

pushbutton.. ahhh I can live without it.
Recaros.. dont hold our breath!

On a positive note: There is something to be said about being one of the first ones in town with the new HOTNESS~

Another thing to consider... the 09's will be out by Sept or October this year. Maybe those will come with the flux capacitor...

Yeah, I'm really torn between the MY08 and the MY09. I recently drove to a dealership and to the see the car in person was amazing. This car is so sexy to look at and the interior is not too shabby either. The build quality of the 08 is night and day between the 07. One reason I might consider an 08 is that my current car recently passed the 40k mark and adding anymore miles will of course depreciate the value. On the other hand, the 09 might come with push start and Recaros!

AVCS is not new. I believe dual AVCS is not even new... just new to the US.

I'm hoping they put in those Recaros and Push Button Start for 2009! Pleaseeeee.

My Lexus has Push Button Start and its a nice feature. I don't want to go back to a regular key.

Instead of kicking a dead horse, I figured Id ask you guys opinions abut something that troubles me some...

When I bought my LGT in 05, it was the first of a totally re-done platform.
I love my LGt; however, there were alot of issues with the 2005's... (Bugs)
from CELs, to thermostat issues, to ECU and injectors needing replacement...
the 06, and 07 models were a great improvement, and offered extras
(Nav at the time). Cant say it was enough that i wish I would have waited, but then came THE SPEC B!

So, my question is..

How much of this will we see in 08 with the new STI platform?

Or..

Considering the new STI is on a revised Legacy platform, will most "bugs have been worked out with the LGT?

Im hoping for the latter!!
I own a 05 LGT and haven't had any of the above problems except for the resistor fix for fan(recall). Granted I would have had to replace the ecu if the resistor fix hadn't been done in a timely manner.

Thats whaat I thought with my 07... I figured all the bugs would be worked out by now. Boy was I wrong. I hope the 08 stock tune is better than the 07s, but from the info I have read on here it looks like its almost as bad.

I'm assuming your AP Stage 1 Map solve your '07 ecu issue?

It fixed most of the problems, but not all of them... I'm pretty convinced a real tune is the only way to go for the 07s. I would be protuned by now but I'm waiting to go stg 2, which should be in a couple months.

You're absolutely correct. Dual AVCS has been around for at least 3 years now in Japan.

Yeah, Thats what happened, when I got the letter about the fix, I brought it in and they said the ECU needed replacing... Also, two injectors, and the Battery/

The other thing was, I was the 06 got NAV!

That is correct. Dual AVCS has been in Europe as well for several years. I have taken the 08 heads apart, and the AVCS design is not something I would see as prone to failure. It is a relativly simple mechanical apparatus, and the exhaust cam design is similiar, but not identical to the intake. The new AVCS would be very low on the list of potential problem areas.

Indeed I have taken the engine apart, and it is very similiar to the previous years. The overall platform has many parts from the previous years, and I would not put overall reliability as a top concern.

Cheers,

I'm three months into my deployment with nine months left to go. I think I'm either going to snatch up a leftover 08 or 09 depending on if there is any bugs or upgrades for the following year like the 04/05 STIs. I've been dreaming about an AWD hatch for a long time. Utility AND Fun!

from what ive heard from other 07 STI limited owners in the area (Boston), some said it felt a lot slower than 05-06 and it seemed like the first 4 gears were elongated.
