Yeah, I gotta say, the '08s are growing on me...

Last weekend I saw a loaded white/gold '08 at the local dealer and in person it was impressive to say the least. I'm not ready to part with my Limited yet, but I have no doubt that the '08 is gonna sell.

Silver is a beautiful color, congrats on an awesome car!!!!

Looks good! I'd either do silver or gray if I bought an STI.

Great way to break it in man,and nice pics. Mud & snow in the same day, treat it like a subaru!
But damn all these early owners postin their pics and reviews, making me wonder how much longer i can hold out before i pull the trigger on mine.
Silvers not my fave color on the 08, but enjoyed seeing that one, keep us all updated with more cool pics like that

Wow! I left the computer for a few hours....

Thanks for all the positive comments.

The seats are a big improvement. In the 05 I had one older friend refuse to ride in the car again. In the 08 my mother and another friend both commented separately on the comfy seats. I also had a friend's 6 year old fall asleep in the back twice. Best yet, my wife says her boobs aren't getting ripped apart in the 08!

I loved the 05 and put a lot of money into it to make it more comfortable and better performing. It was a sick car, but if after all that work I had arrived at what the 08 is stock, I would have been very happy...unfortunately I never got there. IMO the 08 is worth every extra penny Subaru is charging for it.

I don't know where all the speakers are. I did play with a car at the dealership that had factory nav, which allows you to turn off a few of the individual speakers. The factory nav system is really cool. From what I saw there it looks like there is a speaker in the center of the dash and one in the center behind the rear seats. Even with those two I could only count 8 though (4 door speakers, the two center speakers and 2 tweets). I have no idea where the other two are.
The stock 6 disc changer (which is what I got) is actually a pretty good system. It has a dynamic surround sound feature that is turned off by default. The stereo is just adequate with this feature turned off. After discovering it in the owner's manual and turning it on, I am pretty happy with the sound. It isn't at the low end of the stock stereo spectrum anymore, and that's good enough for me. With the factory sub, I think it would satisfy most people--just not the audiophiles.

I'll keep updating about the MPG. I'm at 400 miles after having had the car for 3 days. It will be a few more weeks before it can really be considered broken in.

Thanks for the photos and review. I am waiting on a silver 08 with nav I ordered from Carr about two weeks ago. I tossed and turned a little second guessing everything from the color and nav all the way down to the decision to get the car at all. Reading your post has me excited all over again.

Have fun with it!

The tail lights don't look too bad on the silver car. I hope they blend as well on my dark gray when it arrives.

I'm jealous you west coasters got your cars already

I'm waiting on my silver pre-order too. Should get here sometime in Feb
But I'm glad I picked silver. My current 06 is silver too. This color is stealth, and doesn't get dirty too fast too . Liked how the tail lights are blended so it doesn't look too bad. I'm not going to go too crazy with this one though. I'm looking at sways for suspension and an AP stage1 for the engine. Keep us updated!

I'm also glad Subaru fixed the ginormous fender gap up front.

I am hoping that this will get better as it breaks in and after the s--ty winter gas is no more.
i would't worry too much about that.
on my '04; i got about 15mpg on the first two tanks of gas. it gets better once everything is broken in properly.

Careful in the snow with those tires.

Car looks great - I definitely like the look. It just needs a little 'finessing' to make it right.

As of January 15th, there will no longer be "Winter Gas" -- 10% ethanol will become a year-round requirement. A lot of stations have been doing year-round ethanol for a long time now anyway, it's easy to miss if you don't read the stickers on the pump (and since they don't let us pump our own gas... how many people get out and look these days).

But it's not so bad, the mileage drop in the winter has more to do with temperature than ethanol. I've been running the 10% mix full time for several years, and my winter mileage is about ~20 mpg while my summer mileage is closer to ~25 mpg.
