I just heard the Hella's on YouTube and I gotta say, not impressed. They may be loud but what's the point when the tone is almost as high as the stockers?? They still sound wimpy...just a louder wimpy.

I'm EXTREMELY happy with the Stebel Nautilus airhorn. I had it in my MX-5 and now in my STI. They are crazy loud and really get folks attention, which is the whole point.

I STILL have been unable to locate the second stock horn so when I honk, I get the stocker coming in a split second before the airhorns kick in.

The Stebel can be bolted right where the stocker is in front of the radiator but you will need a thicker bracket since the Steble is about 10x the weight of the stocker.

The Stebel has a + & - terminal. You just hook up the - to the bolt you use for the bracket and the + to the old horn wire and you're good to go.

When my father gave me my first car (a very nicely kept 1976 Audi 100LS) in 1985, he disconected the horn, and said..."it will make you a better defensive driver", best driving tip I ever recieved, I have not used a horn since.
Btw, I kind of like the way the stock horn sounds though, very macho

So has anyone been able to locate the difficult to find second horn? (not the one in front of the radiator) Right now I have my wimpy (hard to locate) horn go off a split second before the airhorn starts its wail. Almost like two cars honking....well a car and a moped.

I'd like to know this, too. I bought a set of PIAA 400/600 Hz horns (115db) that will go in when my sport grille shows up.

When I disconnect the first one I'll honk the horn to try and find the 2nd one.

Could it be behind the bumper cover on the passenger side? I remember seeing a picture of an 08 with the bumper cover removed and I thought I saw a horn there. I tried to find the pcture, but I can't locate the thread it's in.

Give that man a ceegar. That is it. No wonder I couldn't spot it. They hid the bugger. I took my car in to the dealer for some friendly fire repair (don't ask) and asked them to disengage the 2d horn. I wonder if they're going to go to the trouble. At least I know what I'll be doing Saturday if they didn't disconnect it.

Thumbs up Re: Do the horns on the '08 STIs sound better?

im currently researching on which horn to get and i'd have to agree with gil, the hella's were hella disappointing... hellas looked kinda cool with the red peeking thru the grill but it just sounded like a louder subaru horn... a loud MEEP MEEP... the nautilus gil and dj got is the exact sound that i want! ebay has these for under $45 shipped!
